Florida Panthers @ Toronto Maple Leafs 7:30pm ET ESPN+
Two early games in this 3-game slate in the NHL tonight and this one should be the juiciest one. It has by far the highest game total on the slate of 7 goals and given how the Panthers play defense this one should go big. Starting with the centers the top tier belongs to Auston Matthews at 9.2k as he has 20+ DFS points in 3 straight games heading into tonight. I will also be looking at John Tavares as well at 6.7k on DraftKings as he plays a big role and the Panthers are allowing 4.4 goals per game over the last 10 road games.
On the wings Matthew Tkachuk is still in play although the matchup isn't great, Maple Leafs allow the 4th least DFS points to right wingers this season. On the Toronto side give me William Nylander all day! Guy has been a stud this season with 81 points and should collect points tonight. Michael Bunting is also a name to look at with his 21 goals on the season. I like Carter Verhaeghe too but not as much as usual given the Toronto defense.
Speaking of the defense in this game Brandon Montour will top the list at 6k on DraftKings tonight as he is ever reliable at a decent price. Outside of him Morgan Reilly is a cheaper option to plug in for Toronto, normally on the ice a ton and Panthers allow 3rd most points to blueliners this season. In goal I can't play the Florida side they've been too awful so between Ilya Samsonov and Matt Murray that'll be the play once they announce the starter.
New York Islanders @ Washington Capitals 7:30pm ET TNT
This one is a little less exciting than the game above but there are still a few options to watch starting with the centers. Bo Horvat finally scored in the month of March and maybe that gets him going again? Brock Nelson is the next option and he has been humming along with some big games in the past few weeks. I may prefer Nelson at his price here tonight. On the Caps side Dylan Strome has been playing well with over double digit DFS point in 5 of the last 6 games and is just 4.5k tonight.
Over on the wings we have the big hitter in the game Alex Ovechkin. He has been really steady scoring a goal in 4 straight games with 5 during that span. He has to score to make it worth the play though so tough choice. The only other option I like is Zach Parise who has 5 goals in the last 6 games. He is 4.4k and the Capitals defense hasn't been up to snuff lately.
On defense John Carlson is finally back and has produced solid games in the two so far, price is still high at 7.2k but he is 15 DFS points every night when he is rolling. For the Islanders Adam Pelech has done well for his standards lately, with 3 double digit nights in a row heading into this one. Ilya Sorokin is the option at goaltender, 5 shutouts on the season speaks for itself!
Minnesota Wild @ Colorado Avalanche 10:00pm ET TNT
Another potential for a low scoring game here as each team plays great defense and allowing at or under 2.4 goals per game over the last 10 home/road splits. Hard to ignore Nathan MacKinnon in any game though with his 95 points on the season and recent run he is on. He has 14 points over the last 7 games so fade him at your own risk. On the Wild side take a look at Joel Erickson Ek and Ryan Hartman each can be productive game to game.
I have loved playing Mikko Rantanen this season but the Wild are the best team against right wingers this season in DFS so he might be fade for me. That may open the door for Valeri Nichushkin tonight as the scoring has to come from somewhere in Colorado and I don't think they get shutout. For the Wild I will play Matt Boldy who has been a hat trick machine in March with a pair of such games!
On defense look to Cale Makar as always, he pulls in numbers on a game by game basis but don't expect the ceiling game. I wouldn't mind playing Devon Toews either tonight, it just seems like a low scoring game he will excel in. Not many Wild guys here that I am excited about playing but Jared Spurgeon would top the choices for me tonight. For goalies I think you can actually play either side. Both teams shoot the puck a decent amount and each defense is in the NHL elite stats. No annoucement on starters yet but I like Alexandar Georgiev and Filip Gustavsson!
