NFL Week 6 is here and if you’re still making survivor pool picks, congratulations. The 2024 NFL season has been a tough one to navigate and while everyone talks about having the best survivor pool strategy, the fact remains that most of them are out. You’re here and that means we move forward.

Last week was another soul-crusher for many. As mentioned in the Week 5 article, I took the Commanders with my last remaining survivor pool pick, having used the Seattle Seahawks back in Week 1 and, obviously I dodged a huge bullet. Both the Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers were among the top picks taken throughout most survivor pools and both got upset while at home.

It’s been that kind of year. Sometimes you can put together the best survivor pool strategy and it doesn’t mean a thing. We can toss in all the “any given Sunday” cliches, but you probably don’t want to hear them right now. What you do want to hear is who we’re taking for our Week 6 survivor pool picks, so let’s get to it.

Best NFL Survivor Pool Strategy for 2024 NFL Week 6

While again, the best survivor pool strategy is to just pick winning teams, many find themselves in different spots and are forced to look ahead. Those who are still alive in the Circa Survivor contest have to make sure they are leaving teams available for survivor pool picks to be made on Thanksgiving Day, as well as Christmas Day.

That will likely take the Packers, Lions and/or Cowboys off the board for you, as well as the Ravens and Texans. The Chiefs being on a bye might be the best thing for you given their Christmas Day matchup with the Steelers. Yes, it limits your options here, but we probably have enough decent choices not to worry too much.

Then there are the survivor pools that have second-chance options. In some pools, if you miss, you can buy back your pick up to a certain time. Usually around Week 8. Obviously, you don’t want to invest more money, but it also opens the door to taking a chance on a team you know you believe could win but you don’t want to use later. Only you can make that decision for yourself.

For this article, I am going to give who I think the best chances are for a win and keep the risk to a minimum. So, let’s take a look at some point spreads, some money lines and figure out who the best options are for your Week 6 survivor pool picks.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks For Week 6

Philadelphia Eagles (-9 Home Favorite; -450 Money Line)

This is where I am living this week. I’ve got both of the next two picks available to me and while I know a lot of us have difficulty putting our trust in the Eagles, they are my favorite home team, they’re coming off a bye and they are, by far and away, a better team than the Browns.

Deshaun Watson remains under fire as his play has been habitually subpar, they can’t seem to run the football at all, and the Eagles defensive line should put enough pressure to rattle Watson’s cage. Even if Nick Chubb comes back in a limited fashion, I don’t think Cleveland has the horses to win this one.

On the offensive side, the Eagles are getting back A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith which also makes them significantly better than before.

Houston Texans (-7 Road Favorite; -350 Money Line)

Despite the game being on the road, the Texans appear to be in a fantastic spot this week. The Patriots are going to get an emotional lift with the change from Jacoby Brissett to Drake Maye, but once that Texans defense starts getting fired up, it’s likely to be a long afternoon in New England.

The Texans are not without some flaws themselves as Joe Mixon remains sidelined and they just place Nico Collins on IR. But they are still plenty deep, and C.J. Stroud has great weapons in Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz

They’ll even get second-year wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson in there to stretch the field. Despite the fanfare that the Patriots aren’t as bad as people thought, we can happily go back to that Dennis Green cliche, “they are who we thought they were.”

Atlanta Falcons (-6 Road Favorite; -275 Money Line)

The Falcons are another big road favorite and likely a decent option this week, especially with the Carolina Panthers coming back down to Earth after their big upset of the Raiders two weeks ago.

They may have a few nice parts for fantasy football purposes, but for the sake of making survivor pool picks, they are a great team to target against.

Atlanta’s much-improved defense should put enough pressure on Andy Dalton and, hopefully, offensive coordinator Zac Robinson listens more to Raheem Morris and uses Bijan Robinson to dominate this match-up.

Best of luck in Week 6 and I’ll see you for more survivor pool picks and the best survivor pool strategy in Week 7!
