Xavier Hutchinson caught 4-of-6 targets for 52 yards in the Texans’ Divisional Round loss to the Chiefs.
With the Texans short-handed at receiver and predictably playing from behind, second-year pro Hutchinson set a new season high for targets. It, of course, is never a great sign when your season high for targets is six and it comes under depth chart duress during the playoffs. Going on 25 with only 20 career regular season grabs, Hutchinson should not be considered a 2025 53-man roster lock. He will be given the benefit of the doubt, however, especially since he stands in at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds.
Texans declared WR Xavier Hutchinson, G Nick Broeker, DT Folorunso Fatukasi, ILB Jamal Hill, DE Jerry Hughes, S Jalen Pitre, and WR Steven Sims inactive for Houston’s Week 13 game against the Jaguars.
Hutchinson was questionable with a shoulder designation but will sit in favor of practice squad call-up Jared Wayne. Pitre (shoulder) and Fatukasi (foot) were declared out on Saturday with injuries, everyone else here is a healthy scratch for the Texans as they try to get some positive momentum going in Jacksonville.
Xavier Hutchinson caught 2-of-2 targets for -3 yards in the Texans’ Divisional Round loss to the Ravens.
Although his negative yards weren’t exactly “contributing” this afternoon, sixth-round rookie Hutchinson did manage to catch four postseason passes after that number was only eight during the regular season. The grabs came amidst an awful injury situation in the Texans’ receiver corps, though Noah Brown is a free agent and Robert Woods a cut candidate. With C.J. Stroud looking like one of the best young quarterbacks in recent memory, Hutchinson is worth an end-of-bench stash in Dynasty leagues.
