NFL DFS Monday Night Football Showdown Playbook For DraftKings & FanDuel
Published: Oct 14, 2024
As we close out Week 6 of the 2024 NFL season, Monday Night Football brings an intriguing AFC East showdown between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets.
This matchup promises plenty of excitement as Bills quarterback Josh Allen faces off against veteran Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Both teams are looking to establish themselves in the division, but the Jets come into this game with significant changes on the sidelines.
Following a disappointing Week 5 loss, the Jets made a bold move by firing head coach Robert Saleh, replacing him with interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.
Offensive coordinator Todd Downing will also take over play calling duties from Nathaniel Hackett, looking to shake things up and ignite the Jets' offense under the new leadership.
Bills vs. Jets DFS Picks & Preview: Monday Night Football, 10/14
Week 6 ends with a matchup between two AFC East contenders with the 3-2 Buffalo Bills taking on the 2-3 New York Jets.
The big news in the NFL this past week was the firing of Jets head coach Robert Saleh following their loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London in Week 5 which followed a disastrous loss, at home, to the Denver Broncos.
With a new head coach in Jeff Ulbrich and new offensive coordinator in Todd Downing there is increased intrigue on how the Jets offense will look against this Buffalo Bills defense.
As it stands, this game is a near pick'em with the Bills sitting as a one-point road favorite.
Will we see Aaron Rodgers sit back and look to air it out? Will the Jets offense still seem sluggish and struggle, especially in the running game?
Can Buffalo come back from their tough loss to the Texans last week and will their receivers find some consistency?
A lot of questions to be answered in what is a messy AFC East.

NFL Monday Night Football DFS Picks: MVP/Captain
Josh Allen, QB Buffalo Bills
He has what it takes to completely take over a game with both his arm and his legs. Yes, this season has been a bit more up and down than years past but he does have two weeks of over 30 fantasy points this season and that is the type of production that can help you win a GPP, if you can afford him.
Breece Hall, RB New York Jets
The season got off to a hot start for Hall as he averaged 20 fantasy points per game over the first three weeks of the season but the last two weeks have been a struggle as he's managed just 27 rushing yards on 19 carries while adding five catches for just 28 yards. We've also seen Braelon Allen have productive games behind him on the depth chart. That said, new offense, new coach and hopefully a renewed sense of excitement for this Jets offense and the Bills have really struggled against opposing running backs this season.
Aaron Rodgers, QB New York Jets
Did Aaron Rodgers get Robert Saleh fired? The public certainly thinks he did despite Rodgers suggesting he doesn't have that kind of pull. Either way, if the change in leadership and offensive play calling was at the behest of Rodgers then may be we see a game plan centered around Rodgers sitting back in the pocket and slinging it like his days with the Packers.
Garrett Wilson, WR New York Jets
At some point the Jets game plan last week against the Vikings was just calling plays where Garrett Wilson got the football. In a game the Jets lost 23-17, Wilson had 13 catches on 22 targets for 101 yards and a score. Wilson is a very talented wide receiver, and the Jets offense would be best getting him involved early and often here tonight.
NFL Monday Night Football DFS Picks: Core Plays
Dalton Kincaid, TE Buffalo Bills
The Jets do have a pretty good defense but we finally are starting to see some productive weeks from the Bills tight end. Currently, we see Khalil Shakir listed as questionable for tonight's game and if he was to not play we should see Allen look Kincaid's way more often.
Allen Lazard, WR New York Jets
You could probably float Lazard as a captain as well given his chemistry with Aaron Rodgers with Lazard seeing 18 targets over the last two weeks and four touchdowns in five games.
Lazard came to the Jets because of Aaron Rodgers and , while the team also has Mike Williams, it's pretty clear that Rodgers has “his guys” and as long as Lazard is on the field, Rodgers is going to look to go his way.
James Cook, RB Buffalo Bills
Yes, Cook is questionable to play tonight after logging limited practices throughout the week but we have to remember that a few years back the NFL removed the probable tag from the injury report. If this was then and Cook was listed as probable, we would be far less concerned than the dread and uncertain questionable tag. So, we need to decide, is Cook more “probable” or legitimately “questionable” to play tonight. – RULED OUT
NFL Monday Night Football DFS Picks: Mid-Tier Plays
Keon Coleman, WR Buffalo Bills
The rookie had just one catch last week against the Texans but he made it count as he caught a 49-yard touchdown from Josh Allen. Overall, Coleman was targeted five times against the Texans who really had the Bills offense locked down in Week 5.
It has been a very inconsistent rookie season for Coleman but of Shakir is once again ruled out, there is going to be opportunities for him to get targets.
Khalil Shakir, WR Buffalo Bills
The same things we wrote about Cook can be applied to Shakir. Shakir did not play last week due to his ankle injury and he DNP'd practice most of this week until logging a “limited” practice on Saturday. He too is considered questionable.
NFL Monday Night Football DFS Picks: Value Plays
Ray Davis, RB Buffalo Bills
With the inactives out that James Cook has been ruled OUT tonight for the Bills we turn to rookie Ray Davis who will step in as the leading running back for the Bills on Monday night. This is by no means and easy test for Davis and he will still share snaps with Ty Johnson but we should finally get an extended look here.
Mike Williams, WR New York Jets
While it's clear that Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard have the attention of Aaron Rodgers, we still see Mike Williams playing 50-plus percent of the offensive snaps and in Week 5 we saw him play a season high 71% of the offensive snaps. If this game turns into a shootout or the Jets are in a spot where they are playing from behind, Williams is going to be on the field and he is always a threat for a long touchdown.
Braelon Allen, RB New York Jets
The rookie has flustered Breece Hall managers this season with some of his early season production but as DFS players we will take it. Last week has not a good week for the running game but on a Showdown Slate, if we can guarantee a handful of touches and maybe even a few targets then that will be more than enough.
Tyler Conklin, TE New York Jets
I'm old enough to remember when Aaron Rodgers “doesn't throw to tight ends” was a thing. Well, there is something about Tyler Conklin that he likes because the Jets tight end has seen 23 targets over the last three weeks with 15 receptions. He has double-digit fantasy points in two of the last three weeks and as long as his hip is good to go, Conklin should be a popular value play tonight.
Mack Hollins, WR Buffalo Bills
Hollins ha seen six targets in each of the last two weeks and if Khalil Shakir is unable to go or limited in any fashion then we will see Hollins on the field. This is certainly a boom/bust play, but he is very cheap and if he is going to see six targets, all we need is a few of those to connect for him to reach value.
MNF DFS Picks: Kickers & D/ST
In theory both of these teams should have good defenses that can get after the QB and turn the football over.
The over/under for this game is only set at 41.5, so Vegas is not expecting a lot of points. If you are fading the QB's and playing the defenses tonight that would be one approach to get the expensive skill position players on your roster.
For the kickers, both have big legs that can hit from 50+ yards. This is supposed to be a clear night with winds that aren't expected to be too much of a factor.
The low game total also makes me think that we see these offenses cross midfield and then stall out, leaving opportunities for both Tyler Bass and Greg Greg Zuerlein.
