Texans vs. Patriots Predictions For NFL Week 6, Sunday 10/13
Unsurprisingly, the Texans find themselves as the second-biggest favorite of the entire Week 6 slate, and that’s even with them being on the road. They haven’t exactly been dominant, and their lone loss was quite rough, but at the end of the day, they’re 4-1 and in full control of the AFC South.
As for overall Texans vs. Patriots predictions, look for second-year QB C.J. Stroud to make quick work of the Pats through the air. We’ll discuss that much more when breaking down the best bet from our Texans vs. Patriots picks, but just know that is where New England can be exploited.
Of course, we’d be remiss not to mention the Pats’ big news of the week, which will be making a change at QB. First, more about the Texans heading into this AFC showdown.
Houston Texans: Time For Diggs To Be “Him”
For Stroud to light it up through the air, he’s going to have to rely on his weapons, which will be one fewer this week. Young WR Tank Dell has already been fighting through injuries and now, the Texans will be without their leading WR Nico Collins.
He’s already been placed on injured reserve, so it’s time for one of the biggest offseason additions in the entire NFL to step up. All reports were that Diggs wanted out of Buffalo, and this isn’t to suggest that he’s been bad thus far. He has certainly done his part, but now with Collins out and more pressure and attention put on him, it’s time for Diggs to actually be “him.”
New England Patriots: NOW It’s Drake Maye Time
Last week our headline for the Pats was, “Almost Drake Maye Time?” Well, it seems as though we were on the right track, as the team announced that May would be taking over for Jacoby Brissett this Sunday.
There was plenty of debate in the offseason as to whether or not the North Carolina product would start Week 1, but in typical New England fashion, they avoided long-term drama by clearly naming Brissett the starter. Well, after four straight losses, things have changed in Foxboro.
Texans vs. Patriots Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
As mentioned, Houston finds themselves as the second-biggest favorite in Week 6, and you can see that in the latest Texans vs. Patriots odds DraftKings Sportsbook below:
- Point Spread: Houston Texans -7 (-110) vs. New England Patriots +7 (-110)
- Money Line: Houston Texans (-310) vs. New England Patriots (+250)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 38 (-108) vs. Under 38 (-112)
Texans vs. Patriots Point Spread: Over 38 Points (-108 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
Not only does a huge favorite on the road cause hesitation when it comes to making Texans vs. Patriots picks, so too does the fact that the point spread is right on the key number of seven. So, rather than sweating out a pick in that regard, our Texans vs. Patriots predictions are focused on the total.
Generally, games that involve the Patriots immediately have fans thinking: low-scoring, and rightfully so. However, this total is extremely low, and we don’t anticipate New England needing to contribute much at all.
Stroud and company are more than capable of dropping 40 on the Pats given the matchup. New England’s defense is built to stop the run while being terrible against the pass. They’ve allowed the eighth-most passing yards per game and now face an offense that is built to exploit that, even without Collins.
Keep in mind that Texans RB Joe Mixon is still fighting through injury, so they’re going to rely on Stroud even more. Furthermore, Houston has also allowed 20+ in three straight games, and we only expect New England to need 10 points or so for us to hit the best bet from our Texans vs. Patriots predictions on the over 38 points (-108 at DraftKings Sportsbook).
