Texans vs. Cowboys Predictions for Monday Night Football, NFL Week 11

Heading into this season, not only was this an in-state rivalry, but it was even a potential Super Bowl preview. That has certainly changed, primarily due to the Cowboys having fallen to 3-6 on the year after losing their fourth straight game last Sunday.

While the Texans are still sitting atop the AFC South, their back-to-back losses have dropped them 6-4 and far from a lock to win the division. In other words, neither of these teams are coming into this matchup in top form, but since something has to give, this is an ideal spot for both teams to start turning things around.

Ultimately, we’re predicting that Houston has the best chance to do so with the turmoil in Dallas, and their side will be part of our best Texans vs. Cowboys picks coming up.

Houston Texans: Righting The Ship

As noted, while both teams need to right the ship, the Texans are in prime position to do so. After all, they’re the ones with the playoffs in their sights. They were the biggest surprise story of the NFL last year and projected to win the AFC South yet again.

Admittedly, second-year QB C.J. Stroud hasn’t been as electric as his rookie season, but he also set the bar incredibly high. Houston also most recently had to deal with the juggernaut that is the 8-1 Detroit Lions, and they still only lost by a field goal in that game. They’re on the road for MNF, so seeing them as massive favorites only speaks to just how much the Cowboys are struggling.

Dallas Cowboys: Already Looking Ahead?

If you ask Jerry Jones, a win against Houston would spark the team leading to a massive run and the ability to make the playoffs. If you ask just about anyone else, the season is already over with QB Dak Prescott now set to get surgery on his injured hamstring and the defense looking awful.

While many were discussing who the Cowboys could trade away at the deadline to free up cap space next year, Jerry Jones decided to be a buyer instead. The franchise clearly has things to figure out, especially with head coach Mike McCarthy likely already assuming that his days are numbered. It will be interesting to see the motivation Dallas has for MNF.

Texans vs. Cowboys Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines

When we said that Houston was a significant road favorite, we meant it, and you can see that with the latest Texans vs. Cowboys odds at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Texans vs. Cowboys Teaser: Houston -1 & Over 35.5 (-120 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

We also stated that we’d be incorporating the Houston side within the best bet from our Texans vs. Cowboys predictions, and that’s in the form of a teaser. Doing so means that we need both Texans vs. Cowboys picks to hit, but the lines are adjusted.

By lowering the point spread to just one, we avoid the key numbers of seven and three, so outside of a tie, Houston simply needs to win the game. As for the total, it was already lower than our projection of 43.5, so you could take that play separately, but this is our preferred approach.

Dallas has allowed more than this total multiple times this season, so even if they get completely stonewalled, the Texans can still take care of us. We expect them to do so with their ground game, especially with Stroud’s outside weapons being limited due to injuries.

New Houston RB Joe Mixon has been a revelation for them, which is also evidenced in the Texans vs. Cowboys odds that have his rushing yards prop at nearly 90 yards! It’s a perfect matchup for him, as Dallas has allowed the second-most rushing yards per game this season. Only the Carolina Panthers have been worse, which is not good company to keep.

On the flip side, Dallas’ run offense has been non-existent, as their 83.7 yards per game are the second-worst in the NFL. That discrepancy is where the game should be won, and it’s also worth noting that heading into Week 11, road favorites are 41-17 against the spread!

With that type of trend, we’re locking in the best bet from our Texans vs. Cowboys predictions on a teaser of Houston -1 and over 35.5 points (-120 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
