The NFL Playoffs are getting intense as we move from 14 teams down to just eight. This weekend's Divisional Round is set to bring some serious action, with matchups that could really shape the path to the Super Bowl.

In the AFC, there are some big-time games coming up, like the much-anticipated battle between the Ravens and the Bills, while the defending champion Chiefs are ready to take on the rising Texans. Over in the NFC, the Lions are back from their bye week to challenge the Commanders, and the Eagles are gearing up for a home game against the Rams.

With so much at stake and legacies on the line, let’s take a closer look at this week’s matchups and NFL Divisional predictions. Will the top teams maintain their dominance, or are we in for some shocking upsets?

NFL Divisional Round Early Spread Picks & Predictions

Commanders vs. Lions Spread Pick: Saturday, January 18th

I’m feeling really good about the Lions covering the -9.5 spread (-108 at DraftKings) against the Commanders to start our NFL Divisional picks. Detroit has a lot going for them, especially their home-field advantage, where they’ve won 7 out of 8 games this season.

Their offense is arguably the best in the NFL, scoring an average of 33.2 points per game and ranking second in total yards with 409.5. On the flip side, Washington’s offense is good but can’t keep up with the Lions’ firepower.

The Commanders score 28.5 points per game, which is solid, but their passing game, led by Jayden Daniels, is only 17th in the league. Plus, their defense has a tough time stopping the run, sitting at 30th in rushing yards allowed, which is a big problem against the Lions' strong running game with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

Detroit’s defense is also getting better now that they’re healthier after some injuries. With all this momentum and mismatches, I believe the Lions will really shine and cover the spread.

Ravens vs. Bills Spread Pick: Sunday, January 19th

In the AFC, Baltimore -1.5 (-102 at DraftKings) is the way I’m leaning in that matchup because of how strong the Ravens are on the ground and their recent improvements on defense. Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry make an amazing QB-RB pair, racking up over 2,500 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns during the regular season.

Their rushing game is the best in the league, averaging 187.6 yards per game, which will be a challenge for Buffalo’s average rush defense (ranked 12th). Henry was especially impressive in the Wild Card Round, with 186 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 7.2 yards per carry against Pittsburgh.

On the defensive side, Baltimore has really stepped up, allowing only 14 points to the Steelers and being tough against the run all season (only 80.1 yards allowed per game, ranked first). Although Buffalo’s offense is potent, scoring an average of 30.9 points per game (ranked second), they have had trouble against strong defenses and lost 35-10 to Baltimore in Week 4.

Josh Allen’s ability to run and throw is important, but Baltimore’s better rushing game and defense make them the better play to round out this week’s NFL Divisional picks.
