Jets vs. Jaguars Predictions For NFL Week 15, Sunday 12/15
Despite the Jets and Jags having identical 3-10 records, we still have a clear favorite for the matchup. Interestingly enough, it’s also the team that’s on the road, as the Jets vs. Jaguars odds have New York as favorites north of a field goal.
That can sometimes be a dangerous proposition for sports bettors, so should we avoid the point spread altogether? After all, the Jets are the ones coming off a heartbreaking loss and the Jags just pulled off a road win themselves. As it turns out, our projections have us not scared at all to target the point spread.
That market will be the focus of our best bet, but as for an overall game script, let’s just say that New York should feel great about the fact that QB Aaron Rodgers finally broke the streak of games without throwing for over 300 yards.
New York Jets: Relying On Role Players
As he always does, Rodgers made his weekly Tuesday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, and with the Jets out of playoff contention, there is plenty to talk about outside of New York. However, one thing he did go out of his way to bring up when discussing the Monday Night Football game was the importance of role players.
While the Jets have some significant star power, he’s onto something in that regard. With guys like RB Breece Hall and CB Sauce Gardner having missed time, they need role players to step up. He also noted that players are still playing for contract incentives and salary bonuses, so there’s always that, too.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Finding The Future?
Since drafting them several years ago now out of the same school - Clemson - the combination of QB Trevor Lawrence and RB Travis Etienne was expected to be a promising one. Injuries have derailed their season this year, so it was backup QB Mac Jones and backup RB Tank Bigsby that led their upset win this past Sunday.
It also came on the road against a division rival, making it that much more special. Regardless, the Jags are still just 3-10, as are the Tennessee Titans, the team they beat last weekend. We aren’t suggesting the Jones will lead them to the promised land, especially after giving Lawrence a massive contract extension, but the franchise does need to re-evaluate.
Jets vs. Jaguars Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
Right from the start, we’ve been discussing the point spread for this AFC showdown, and you can see the latest Jets vs. Jaguars odds at FanDuel Sportsbook below:
- Point Spread: New York Jets -3.5 (-105) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars +3.5 (-115)
- Money Line: New York Jets (-175) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (+145)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 40.5 (-110) vs. Under 40.5 (-110)
Jets vs. Jaguars Best Bet: New York -3.5 (-105 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
Seeing even Jacksonville pull off a road win last weekend should provide some confidence in our Jets vs. Jaguars predictions, as we understand that supporting New York at this point may be a tough pill for some fans to swallow.
However, road favorites this season have been the most profitable trend for bettors this season in terms of against the spread. In that regard, favorites on the road have been covering at 56.6%, which may not sound groundbreaking to some, but experienced fans know that it is a trend worth targeting.
Remember, these are two teams that have identical records, yet oddsmakers have made New York clear favorites. In other words, the Jets are still not in that same bottom tier as others, and they showed plenty of promise in their most recent game against the Dolphins.
Although it was a loss, let’s go back to our mention of Rodgers’ big game. He finally had an epic game through the air, and now, he gets to face one of the league’s worst pass defenses, as the Jags have allowed the second-most passing yards per game. With the connection to WR Davante Adams looking its best thus far, that’s good news for Rodgers and company.
We know this may not be the marquee matchup of the weekend, but we still see value in New York -3.5 (-105 at FanDuel Sportsbook), making it the best bet from our Jets vs. Jaguars predictions.
