Eagles vs. Rams Predictions For NFL Week 12, Sunday Night Football 11/17
These teams have only played once over the last few years, but it happened to be last season in October. The Eagles won that one 23-14. AJ Brown and Dallas Goedert did most of the heavy lifting with over 200 combined yards for the Eagles while Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua were the focal points for the Rams.
The Eagles are on a six-game winning streak having not lost since Week 4 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before their bye. At the time they were missing both AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. The Rams picked things up as well since Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua returned, winning their last two games. They did lose to the Packers and Bears the two games prior to that.
Philadelphia Eagles: DeVonta Smith Out
The Eagles are a fairly highly consolidated offense. No one outside of AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, or Saquon Barkley even has 20 targets. So it’s kind of a big deal when those guys are out. The last time they lost, they were missing both AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. Jahan Dotson will step into that role for Smith but it’s not ideal.
On defense the Eagles have been great, especially against the pass. Per FTN Fantasy, they are a top 5 defense based on DVOA. Quinyon Mitchell and Darius Slay have done a tremendous job roaming the outside and rookie Cooper DeJean has been a menace in the slot.
Los Angeles Rams: Finally Healthy
We mentioned the consolidation on the Eagles, but the Rams have been even more consolidated in terms of snaps. Sean McVay has never been scared to roll out the starters for big snap shares as the Rams are routinely among the top teams in 11 personnel. He’s one of the few coaches that deploys the starting running back in a bellcow capacity as Kyren Williams has played 88% of the snaps. No other back in the league is even within 10 percent of that. With Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua finally healthy, the band is back together.
On defense, the Rams have been about middle of the pack. There is simply no replacing Aaron Donald, as we saw in the overtime game with the Lions where David Montgomery singlehandedly won the game running up the gut. Rookie Jared Verse has been a pleasant surprise though and the Rams defense has been able to hold their own against some lesser teams.

It’s a lot more fun when the underdog wins - especially since the Eagles are virtually lock for the playoffs while the Rams are battling to stay alive. But the reality is that the Eagles are the more complete team across the board right now. And DeVonta Smith really has not been much of an impact player the last couple weeks with only 29 and 14 yards. They will certainly be missing him but it’s not like they are without Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, or AJ Brown.
At the end of the day, the Eagles have the capacity to shut down what the Rams do well whereas the same can’t be said for the Rams’ defense. The Rams have always benefited from the ability to move guys around the formation to find mismatches, especially Cooper Kupp, but there’s nowhere to hide when a team has a great nickel corner like Cooper DeJean. The Rams could run into a similar problem against the 49ers (Deommodore Lenoir) and Jets (Michael Carter II) if they are healthy.
The Rams just don’t have answers for guys like AJ Brown or Saquon Barkley. And, in this matchup, Dallas Goedert is likely a top five tight end option for your fantasy teams. We’ll take the Rams here.
