49ers vs. Rams Predictions For Week 3, Sunday 9/22
The Rams were just a part of a divisional rivalry game last week down in Arizona, where they were absolutely thrashed by the Cardinals 41-10. Even for those that don’t think LA is a true contender, it was still a shocking result, as they have owned the Cards under Sean McVay.
That loss snapped a nine-game road winning streak over Arizona, and not long before that, the 49ers were just as shocked by the Minnesota Vikings. Even without superstar RB Christian McCaffrey, they were expected to win rather smoothly, but that clearly didn’t come to fruition.
San Francisco 49ers: CMC Officially Goes To IR
After being ruled out just before kickoff of Week 1’s Monday Night Football game, CMC tried to give reporters good news for Week 2. Not only was he eventually ruled out, but he was ultimately placed on injured reserve, which was also after head coach Kyle Shanahan said that it may be avoided.
The entire CMC injury situation has been quite a strange one, and you can be sure that many fantasy football owners are not thrilled about it. Of course, neither is the team, who didn’t expect to fall to the Vikings in Week 2 after nearly winning last year’s Super Bowl.
Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford Trade Rumors?
Ok, the phrase ‘trade rumors’ may be a bit exaggerated, but we have seen some of the biggest networks speculate potential trades involving Rams QB Matthew Stafford, such as one to the Las Vegas Raiders. As unlikely as that may seem, it’s also going to be difficult for him to catch the eye of other teams right now.
After last year’s rookie sensation WR Puka Nacua went on IR following Week 1, fellow star WR Cooper Kupp has recently done the same. That is an absolutely massive blow to their offense, not to mention that overall LA has placed five starters on IR through the first two weeks of the season.
49ers vs. Rams Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
Despite being on the road in a divisional rivalry game, San Fran is still the clear favorite for this matchup. Here are the latest 49ers vs. Rams odds at FanDuel Sportsbook:
- Point Spread: San Francisco 49ers -7 (-110) vs. Los Angeles Rams +7 (-110)
- Money Line: San Francisco 49ers (-355) vs. Los Angeles Rams (+285)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 44.5 (-110) vs. Under 44.5 (-110)
49ers vs. Rams Point Spread: Under 44.5 (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
Given how banged up the Rams are right now, we certainly expect the 49ers to be the ones to bounce back from last week’s loss and get back in the win column. However, they’re favorites right around that key number of seven, so that’s not something we want to touch with our 49ers vs. Rams predictions.
Instead, we’re going to focus on a low-scoring game. That certainly correlates to the fact that LA’s offense is a shell of what it was prior to Week 1. The loss of such a top-tier WR duo simply cannot be overstated, even if Nacua is just a second-year stud. Defenses, like the elite one in San Francisco, can now stack the box against Rams RB Kyren Williams.
Of course, the 49ers not having CMC is as big of a blow as a team can endure. There’s no denying that backup RB Jordan Mason has looked fantastic, but San Fran is now also without WR Deebo Samuel for at least a few weeks. In other words, both of these teams are without their best two offensive weapons.
Therefore, it may not be the most outside-the-box pick, but the best bet from our 49ers vs. Rams predictions is under 44.5 points (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
