2024 Player Outlook
As a rookie, Davis Allen primarily operated on special teams behind starter Tyler Higbee. He did look serviceable in the two games he missed while Higbee was out with injury, registering 4 catches on 5 targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 then caught all four of his targets in Week 18 for 25 yards. Tyler Higbee suffered a torn ACL in the playoff loss to the Lions which means Higbee will almost certainly be unavailable to start the year, leaving that door open for another pass catching tight end. The Rams did turn around and give a three year, $22.5 million contract to Colby Parkinson which likely gives Parkinson an leg up in those battles. But there are certainly snaps to be had, especially early on.

Davis Allen caught 1-of-2 targets for a 13-yard touchdown in the Rams’ Wildcard win over the Vikings.
Allen saw additional run in the offense after Tyler Higbee left after the team’s second possession. Higbee would be immediately deemed doubtful to return with a chest injury before being ruled out for the remainder of the game at halftime, something that could provide more run for both Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen in the Divisional Round against the Eagles.
Rams TE Davis Allen (back) was ruled out for Week 3 against the 49ers.
The Rams’ short-staffed pass-catching corps will be without its No. 2 tight end as well. Allen was unable to practice all week though, so this is hardly a surprise. While he is firmly entrenched behind starter Colby Parkinson, a Week 4 return would at least provide Matthew Stafford with a capable rotational player.
Rams declared TE Davis Allen, RB Cody Schrader, LB Brennan Jackson, OL Dylan McMahon, and DE Tyler Davis inactive for Week 2 against the Cardinals.
The team’s offensive line is depleted after placing Steve Avila and Joe Noteboom on injured reserve, while Puka Nacua was placed there as well. Allen is one of the key injuries listed on the inactives list, missing Week 2 with a back injury and leaving Colby Parkinson the definitive tight end target for the Rams.
Rams TE Davis Allen (back) is doubtful for Week 2 against the Cardinals.
Allen played behind free agent addition Colby Parkinson in Week 1. Parkinson led all tight ends in routes in his first game as a Ram and hauled in four passes for 47 yards. Allen’s likely absence locks Parkinson in as a volume-based TE2.
