Early Top Tier Core Plays
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder
This is the second leg of a back-to-back, but SGA is a monster just about 10 days ago he scored 30 actual and 56.25 DKP on the 2nd leg, so he'll be just fine. SGA scored 35 points and 70 DKP last night and has scored 30+ actual in eight straight games. This is a great game environment for he and his team, too.
Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento Kings
The king of the triple-double this year has a great matchup against a poor Bulls team. They've been worse defensively ranking 19th in DRtg since Feb 1. Sabonis averages 1.48 FP/min this year, 1.37 without Fox but sees a near 4% increase in usage. That balances itself out.
LeBron James & Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers
Per usual, you can get to AD or LBJ, whichever you prefer. I lean LBJ's direction if we're being honest. Davis has flashed the higher ceiling of late but LBJ has put up 50+ DKP in five straight and seven of eight overall, something AD cannot say. LBJ has a 29% USG and averages 1.42 FP/min while Davis has a 27% USG and averages 1.49 FP/min.
Early Mid-Tier Core Plays
The Nets have had the same team basically for the last week as Cam Thomas and Ben Simmons are once again out. Bridges has looked very good offensively. Without Simmons and Thomas this year Bridges has a 27.7% USG and averages 1.07 FP/min.
Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Poole & Marvin Bagley, Washington Wizards
I really love the Wizards today and I'd even be OK getting Tyus Jones here too. Kuzma leads the team in USG and FP/min while Bagley is second in FP/min and Poole's second in usage. All the ownerships is towards Kuzma, Jones, Poole and Avdija. Bagley coming in low owned is great in GPPs.
White has had a career year and is in a really good spot against the Kings here. He's a 24% USG and 1 FP/min guy without Zach LaVine this year, too. The Kings allow the eighth most three-pointers per game and White takes a lot of deep balls. He's an 8K+ player when he's making shots and this is a good spot to get on track.
Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson, John Collins & Keyonte George, Utah Jazz
We'll have to monitor George's status because he was downgraded to Q with an illness, but if he plays it's hard to ignore any of the Utah guys in the mid-tier. Utah's without two of their prominent rotation pieces including their best player, Lauri Markkanen. Six Jazz players are getting at least 20% rostership today and every guy above is included in that. Collins has been the best from a FP/min while Keyonte George leads in usage.
Vince Williams Jr., Memphis Grizzlies
He was bad in the first Portland game but the second crack went well as he put up 44 DKP and is in another pretty good spot against Brooklyn here. With all of Memphis' big guns out, he averages 1 FP/min and sits at about a 21% USG, which is thanks to the biggest bump on the team of nearly 7%. As long as this game is competitive, he should play somewhere close to 40 minutes.
Early Value Tier Core Plays
Cameron Johnson & Dennis Schroder, Brooklyn Nets
Both guys have been quite good lately and are still a wee bit cheap. Schroder has notched 25+ DKP in four straight games and has had a 21% USG or better, including two games over 28%. Johnson's topped 30 minutes in back-to-back games and has made 11 threes during that span. No reason to think the rotation changes in really any capacity here.
With Jaren Jackson Jr. out as well as Ziaire Williams, Jackson figures to be extended here, especially if Memphis elects to go the smaller rout where they basically cut out their centers after 19-20 minutes. Jackson played 31 minutes last time out and took 15 shots. In eight of his last 11 games he's posted a 26% USG or better.
I find it interesting that Hendricks is not getting much ownership here. He's starting, playing upper 20's minutes and has fallen just short of double-doubles a LOT lately. Now, no Lauri Markkanen, and the path to him closing this game is very live. With the guys traded and Markkanen plus Kessler off the floor, Hendricks has averaged .95 FP/min.
Talen Horton-Tucker & Brice Sensabaugh, Utah Jazz
We'll see if either guy enters the starting lineup but there's a case for one of them. We may also see Kris Dunn, too, but would rather the other two guys. THT played 20 minutes the other night and we saw how good he can be from a FP/min even when he's not making shots. Sensabaugh was a late first-round pick this year and although he hasn't flashed much this year, he was a 16 PPG player on 48% FG and 40% 3PT in college.
Late-News Core Play & News Section
*Section for players we are considering “core plays” based on late-breaking news & research
- A few names to keep your eyes on based on injury news: Ashton Hagans, Duop Reath & Jabari Walker. Toumani Camara, Deandre Ayton & Matisse Thybulle are QUEST. Jerami Grant is DOUBT
- Damian Lillard, Bobby Portis, Brook Lopez are all tier-1 plays without Giannis Antetokounmpo.
- Malik Beasley is an interesting DK GPP play.
- Jabari Walker is the 2nd highest-rostered play on DK. Should play all the minutes.
- Duop Reath should start at center and is a good price, but I worry about the blowout and they have center depth.
- Jalen Williams, OKC – really like the late game exposure here.
- Dalano Banton STARTING. Solid value. Ashton Hagans is a pivot.
