The Grizzlies selected Gregory "GG" Jackson with the 45th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Originally, Jackson was the top high school prospect for the 2023 class and was expected to be the top pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. However, he ended up reclassifying to be part of this draft class and stayed home to play for South Carolina this season. He was only 17 years old when he played his first game for the Gamecocks, and he wonâ??t turn 19 until this December. He ended up having a shaky season, where he both flashed his upside and gave teams reasons to question his maturity. He is the ultimate boom-or-bust prospect, which is a little concerning for a Memphis franchise that's been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately.
San Antonio selected Sidy Cissoko with pick No. 44 of the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday.
Cissoko played for G-League Ignite last season, averaging 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.1 steals, 1.0 blocks, and 1.1 3-pointers per game. He proved that he can contribute defensive numbers, but his upside as a tall playmaker is his main appeal. He can handle the ball well, heâ??s athletic, and he stands 6-foot-8. He has loads of potential, but heâ??ll have to improve his shooting from deep if he really wants to be effective. San Antonio will be a great place for him to develop, though he may have to sit for a couple seasons before he has a chance at real minutes.
