With three weeks left in the fantasy basketball season it’s all about maximizing your team’s productivity and when adding players from the waiver wire, look to see how many games they have on their schedule for the week. We want to avoid as many players with just two games as possible. The Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and Miami Heat have the short two-game slates for week 23 of the 2022-2023 NBA season. Don’t drop superstars from those teams because both the Nuggets and Pistons have four-game slates next week. Here are a few more players to look to add from the fantasy basketball waiver wire. 

 

Fantasy Basketball NBA Waiver Wire Pickups

Patrick Beverley, G, Chicago Bulls – 16% rostered

Beverley has made statements on and off the floor recently. He thinks he’s the greatest rebounding point guard of all time. He’s impressed lately by grabbing double-digit rebounds in two of his last four contests and he’s ripped down at least six in four of his last seven games. Beverley is a feisty guard that will fight for boards and steals. He’s very blue-collared for the most part on the court. We’ve seen him shoot more lately taking seven or more shots in three of his last four games and he dropped four or more dimes in four games during that span. He gives the Bulls a tremendous boost on defense and he’s proven he can help at multiple positions. He’s even blocked shots in four of his last five battles. He has a full slate of games this week and he should play at least 27 minutes in most if not all four contests. 

Austin Reaves, SG/SF, Los Angeles Lakers – 46% rostered

Reaves is the one player on this list that has three games this week but look at how much of a scoring machine he’s been lately. Reaves has scored no fewer than 13 points in eight straight games. He’s coming off a 35-point effort. He’s been helping run the offense as well and has dished five or more assists in four of his last six games. He’s even pulled down four or more boards in four straight games and stole the ball in three battles during that span. Playing time has certainly been available for him and he should continue hovering around or exceeding the 30-minute mark. The Lakers have a few good matchups on the slate against weaker mid-courts defensively and even if he comes off the bench, he’s being heavily utilized and it’s shown in his recent production. He’s been a multi-category producer in fantasy basketball in recent weeks. 

Aaron Nesmith, SG/SF, Indiana Pacers – 24% rostered

The Pacers have a few banged-up players and we’ll have to see about the statuses of Bennedict Mathurin and Chris Duarte, but the Pacers have been starting Nesmith as a smaller power forward making his playing time safe and secure. Nesmith is coming off two straight games in that he scored 22-plus points in, and he’s taken at least 11 shots in each of his last three battles. Speaking of battling, he’s certainly been battling for more boards lately ripping down five or more in four of his last five games. He blocked shots and grabbed steals in three games during that span. Going back to his scoring, he’s been shooting a lot better recently as well, hitting over 50 percent of his shots and over 42 percent of his three-pointers over his last five matchups. The Pacers are on the road this week but Nesmith has good matchups coming up for the most part and he’s hit the 30-minute mark in four of his last five games. 

Xavier Tillman, PF/C, Memphis Grizzlies – 44% rostered

Steven Adams is still out and Jaren Jackson Jr. doesn’t appear to be 100 percent either and Tillman has proven that he doesn’t need a lot of minutes to be productive. Tillman has hit double figures in scoring in seven of his last nine matchups. He’s coming off a double-double and he’s exceeded his 4.8 rebounding average in 12 of his last 13 contests. He plays exclusively in the post and doesn’t stretch the floor and he compliments other Grizzlies floor stretchers such as Jackson and Santi Aldama very well. Tillman has even swiped a ball in six of his last eight games with four of those games being multi-swipe outings. Even if he doesn’t play 30 minutes, he can still be trusted and he’s even done a good job in setting up other teammates on offense and his assist production is starting to show that. Tillman is safe until Adams returns and faces a few weak frontcourts this week.

 

Josh Green, SG/SF, Dallas Mavericks—17% rostered

If Kyrie Irving returns, will Green’s shots drop a bit? A little, but he’s been logging a lot of minutes in recent games, and he can still help run the offense. He’ll split mid-court minutes with Tim Hardaway Jr, but we can’t ignore what he’s done with both Irving and Luka Doncic sidelined. He’s hit the 20-point mark in scoring in three of his last four battles. He’s been helping move the ball around and will bring it up even if he’s in the lineup with the Mavericks reserves. He’s dropped four-plus dimes in three of his last four matchups. He’s pulled down five boards per game over his last four outings and he’s shot over 55% during that stretch. The Mavericks don’t have much to offer offensively in their frontcourt besides Christian Wood and Green can continue to get a handful of shot attempts. 

Jordan Nwora, F, Indiana Pacers – 16% rostered

Nwora hasn’t scored fewer than 10 points in a game in almost a month and even if other Pacers guards return to action, he’s proven to be a reliable spark-scorer off the bench. He’s not an instant offense guy who just comes in and fires away shots. He’s been aggressive on both sides of the floor and has pulled down nine boards in both of his last two games and if you look at his last handful of contests, he’s been producing a lot more four-to-five rebound games. He’s stolen the ball in six of his last eight battles as well and he’s played at least 29 minutes over his last three games. Even if Duarte and Mathurin return to action, Nwora should still play 20-25 minutes per game for the rest of the way. He’s hit over 49 percent of his shots in his last five contests. 

Jaylin Williams, PF/C, Oklahoma City Thunder – 5% rostered

Williams is raw, and he’ll need more time to develop, but even if he plays just 18-22 minutes, the production has been there. He’s grabbed five or more boards in three of his last four games and stole the ball six times during that span. He’s blocked a shot in three of his last five games as well. He can hit shots from the outside and has dropped nine or more points in four of his last seven games. Williams has multiple easy matchups coming up against the Clippers and they are horrible at defending the low block. If he plays more in the paint for those games, which he should, that’ll increase his chances of grabbing more rebounds. It's very easy for big men to get to the basket against the Clippers. The Thunder use Williams and Dario Saric at center and that’s likely how it will remain for the rest of the season.
