MLB Weather Today, 6/11

There are some light showers possible. If the drizzle comes before the game starts, they could wait it out. If they begin to play, they'll likely play through it. Either way, this game will finish.

MLB DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Zack Wheeler is the costliest pitcher in the pitcher pool today. However, I'd completely fade him. In the last 30 days against lefties, Wheeler has allowed a .169 ISO and wOBA of .345 with only 27.3% of grounders and 34.1% of fly balls.

He's also struck out just 22.1% of lefties over the last 30 days and has walked them 11.8% of the time. I wouldn't want to sweat out Wheeler's matchup against Jarren Duran, Enmanuel Valdez, Rafael Devers, and David Hamilton.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Ronel Blanco, Houston Astros

First off, I'd play Paul Skenes over Ronel Blanco. With that out of the way, Blanco has the easiest matchup of the slate. He's facing a San Francisco Giants projected lineup that has hit a .112 ISO and wOBA of .270 against righties over the last 30 days.

They've got six batters hitting a wOBA of no better than a .276 against righties in that time. Meanwhile, the Giants have also worked only 6.7% of walks with this lineup against righties in the last 30 days. On the other hand, Blanco has only struck out 21.7% of batters and has struggled against righties. He's allowed a .229 ISO and wOBA of .344 to his last 40 righties. Therefore, while I like Blanco's matchup, I'd roll with the other three options below first.

Paul Skenes, Pittsburgh Pirates

Paul Skenes is 3-0 in five starts with a 3.00 ERA. He's added 35.2% of strikeouts and has only walked 5.6% of batters. In addition, Skenes has held teams to a .141 ISO and wOBA of .272 with 50% of ground balls induced.

He's struggled a little more against righties. However, the righties in the Cardinals' projected order have only hit a .112 ISO with nearly 23% of strikeouts against righties in the last month. Overall, the Cardinals have only three batters who have hit an ISO of above .160 against righties in the last thirty days. Skenes should limit power and add a ton of strikeouts tonight.

Bryan Woo, Seattle Mariners

SCRATCHED!!!! NOT STARTING!!

While Bryan Woo has only struck out 20.2% of batters this season, he's still added 26.5% of strikeouts against righties this year. Woo, a righty, has just struggled with earning strikeouts against lefties. However, that doesn't matter much tonight, knowing the White Sox's projected lineup has six righties in the lineup.

Those six righties have combined to strike out 31.3% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. Woo has quite a few insane matchups against this White Sox lineup. After all, Chicago has collectively struck out 27.1% of the time and has walked only 7.7% of the time against righties using its projected lineup.

Tylor Megill, New York Mets

Over the last month, Tylor Megill has struck out nearly 28% of batters while allowing a .077 ISO and wOBA of .262. He's also minimized walks to 8.3% and has averaged over 90 pitches per start since returning to the big-league mound.

Meanwhile, he'll take on the Miami Marlins. That projected lineup over the same month has hit a .120 ISO and wOBA of .292, with 21.7% strikeouts and just 3.8% walks. Only Jazz Chisholm and Josh Bell have hit eye-popping numbers against righties over the last 30 days. If Megill adds a quality start with five or six strikeouts, that would totally be worth it for his price.

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Jarren Duran, OF Enmanuel Valdez, 2B, Rafael Devers, 3B, David Hamilton, SS, Boston Red Sox

Zack Wheeler has struggled against lefties. This season, he's allowed a .159 ISO and wOBA of .318, with 31.8% of line drives allowed to lefties. Meanwhile, in the last 30 days, Wheeler has struck out just 22.1% of lefties and has walked 11.8% while giving up 34.1% of fly balls and 31.8% of line drives. Wheeler has also induced just 27.3% of ground balls over the last 30 days against lefties.

While many people will play Wheeler and forget about the Red Sox's bats, you can be different. You can back the Red Sox bats and fade Wheeler. Jarren Duran has hit a .355 ISO and wOBA of .450 against righties over the last 30 days. Enmanuel Valdez has hit a .579 ISO and wOBA of .566 with only 10% of strikeouts against righties in his previous 20 at-bats against righties.

Rafael Devers has smoked a .484 ISO and wOBA of .481 with only 17.1% of strikeouts, and David Hamilton has been a bit sneaky, hitting a .206 ISO and wOBA of .396 against righties over the last month. These four lefties have real potential against Wheeler tonight.

Jose Ramirez, 3B, David Fry, OF, Cleveland Guardians

The Reds will roll with Brent Suter as their starter tonight. The lefty pitcher has only thrown against 147 batters this season. However, his last 29 righties faced have hit a .241 ISO and wOBA of .370 with only 13.8% of strikeouts. Suter has allowed 28% of line drives to righties in that time.

He'll face two fierce righties in tonight's Guardians lineup. Jose Ramirez has slugged a .281 ISO and wOBA of .448 with only 11.1% of strikeouts against lefties. On the other hand, David Fry has smashed a .481 ISO and wOBA of .563 against his last 35 lefties.

Ezequiel Tovar, SS, Colorado Rockies

Over the last month, Ezequiel Tovar has hit a .342 ISO and wOBA of .459 against righties.

While he's also a righty, Tovar still has a really good matchup against Louie Varland. Varland is making his return to the big-league mound after a long hiatus. He's only thrown to 87 batters this season and allowed a .226 ISO and wOBA of .470 to 39 righties.

Tovar is one of the few consistent bats for the Rockies. I'd take advantage of this matchup and add Tovar to the lineup.

After all, in the last month, he's hit 32.8% of fly balls, 24.6% of line drives, and 47.5% of hard contact against righties.

Luis Rengifo, 2B, Kevin Pillar, OF, Logan O'Hoppe, C, Jo Adell, OF, Zach Neto, SS, Los Angeles Angels

You'll want to consider an Angels stack tonight. The Angels are facing Jordan Montgomery of the Diamondbacks, who has a 6.80 ERA after signing a significant deal with Arizona at the start of this year's season. Montgomery has allowed a .222 ISO and wOBA of .429 to his last 99 righties. He's also struck those righties out just 13.1% of the time and has allowed nearly 29% of line drives to righties in the last month.

He's in line to face an Angels lineup with eight righties. Those eight righties have smashed a .234 ISO and wOBA of .355 against lefties in the last 30 days. The main contributors include all of the righty batters listed above.

Last 30 days against lefties:

With Montgomery's recent struggles, find a way to get at least some of these bats into your DFS lineup.
