Neto was a very solid fantasy option in 2024, and there’s no reason to think the former first-round selection won’t be a quality option now that he’s healthy. Assuming he can stay on the field, of course.

The dynamic 24-year-old shortstop will make his highly-anticipated 2025 season debut on Friday night against the Giants where he’ll start at shortstop and bat seventh against right-hander Logan Webb, Fantasy managers who have been anxiously awaiting his return now get an unexpected boost for the weekend’s slate of games.

Neto cleared the final hurdle on his minor league rehab assignment — playing shortstop for nine innings on consecutive days. He’s getting the night off on Thursday as the Angels’ brass meets to decide whether or not he’s ready to return or if they want him to play in a few more games before coming back. Either way, it sounds like his return is imminent. Fantasy managers who have been stashing him may finally start to reap some rewards over the weekend.

Neto played all nine innings at shortstop on Tuesday night for Triple-A Salt Lake and launched his fourth homer in 12 games on his rehab assignment. The 24-year-old shortstop is expected to be activated at some point later this week, possibly for Friday’s series opener against the Giants at Angel Stadium, but Washington isn’t tipping his hand. He’s clearly ready to return to Los Angeles and should be rostered in all fantasy formats.
