UPDATED 9/6 @ 3:09pm ET

Yes, fantasy football is right around the corner, but you’ve poured blood, sweat and tears into your fantasy baseball teams dating back to the winter months of this year! If your team is still competing for a fantasy baseball championship, or you are fighting for playoff contention, this week’s fantasy baseball injury report has plenty of key information to help you set your lineups and dominate your competition.

Jacob deGrom and Kyle Tucker are nearing their respective returns, while Clayton Kershaw will head to the IL with a bone spur in his big toe. The Kansas City Royals are pushing for a playoff spot, and maybe even an AL Central title, but they’ll likely be without Vinnie Pasquantino for the rest of the regular season.

Other notable names that hit the MLB injury report this week include Dean Kremer, Drew Thorpe and Alex Bregman of the Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros respectively.

MLB Injury Report: Starting Pitchers

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers - Toe

One of the bigger names in this week’s MLB injury report is future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw. The Dodgers had to place the veteran southpaw on the injured list with a bone spur in his big toe.

Jacob deGrom, Texas Rangers - Elbow

UPDATED 9/6: deGrom will likely make one more rehab appearance this weekend, and then toe the rubber for the Rangers in the middle-to-late part of next week.

deGrom was solid yet again in a rehab outing, and the timetable for his return is getting clearer. He’ll make one more rehab appearance, and then join the Texas Rangers’ starting rotation. He could make his 2024 debut in the mid-to-late part of next week.

Clarke Schmidt, New York Yankees - Lat

Schmidt still seems to be trending for a return in the first half of September.

Dean Kremer, Baltimore Orioles - Forearm

UPDATED 9/6: Kremer is scheduled to start this evening (Friday) and should have no restrictions from the injury he sustained in his last start.

Kremer took a comebacker off his right forearm, causing him to leave his Saturday start early. X-Rays came back negative, but since he was struck on his pitching arm, his next start could be pushed back to let some of the swelling and pain get under control.

Yu Darvish, San Diego Padres - Groin/Elbow

Darvish recently pitched four innings in a controlled game environment and reported no issues. While he’s making progress, it’s hard to define a timetable on his return.

Drew Thorpe, Chicago White Sox - Elbow

Thorpe is getting a bone spur removed from his right elbow, and it requires season ending surgery.

MLB Injury Report: Hitters

Kyle Tucker, Houston Astros - Shin

UPDATED 9/6: The hope is that Tucker will be activated and return to the lineup this evening!

Tucker has been a frequent flier on the fantasy baseball injury report, but for the first time in a while, we have positive updates regarding his status. Fantasy managers will likely get Tucker back this week, perhaps as early as the front half of it.

Fernando Tatis, San Diego Padres - Leg

The Padres are leaving the door open for Tatis to return without a rehab assignment, and his return does seem to be drawing closer and closer. Tatis hasn’t played since June 21.

Vinnie Pasquantino, Kansas City Royals - Hand

Pasquantino will be out for the next six-to-eight weeks due to a broken thumb. His regular season is almost assuredly over, but perhaps he could return in time if Kansas City can make a run in October.

Trevor Story, Boston Red Sox - Shoulder

Story’s rehab stint has begun, and assuming there are no setbacks, he should be rejoining Boston perhaps next week. I’m speculating a bit on when he’ll actually join the big-league club, but I figure 7-10 days in the minors is what Boston can afford to give him, as a recent slide hasn’t done them any favors in the playoff chase.

Alec Bohm, Philadelphia Phillies - Hand

UPDATED 9/6: Bohm has remained out of the lineup with this hand issue. With each game he misses, the chance of going to the IL slightly increases.

Bohm is battling some hand discomfort after a foul ball on Thursday, and he’s been out of the lineup the past three days.

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers - Hip

ADDED 9/6: Seager was placed on the IL on Wednesday with what is being called right hip discomfort. The Rangers are hopeful to get him back before season's end.

Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks - Ankle

ADDED 9/6: Marte could be activated before the weekend is over, but at the very least, fantasy managers should get him back next week it seems.
