Welcome into the Thursday edition of MLB best bets here at Fantasy Alarm on this Wednesday, April 2nd! Yesterday’s MLB predictions was the first losing day I’ve had on the MLB picks this season. While it stings, it’s a humbling reminder that making MLB best bets is not easy and it’s a long season full of ups and downs!

Best thing about a bad day of MLB predictions though is that there’s more games to get back on track the next day!

Astros vs. Twins Predictions: Thursday, April 3rd

The start to the season for the Astros & Twins has been less than ideal to say the least with each team really struggling on offense. It may be tough for them to get going again today too as Hunter Brown will start for Houston and Joe Ryan for Minnesota. Both pitchers were rock solid in their first starts and built off what was a solid campaign in 2024 as well.

Starting with the Twins as they are scoring 3.33 runs per game right now but have gone over the total in 4 of 6 games thus far. It wasn’t on the back of their offense though it was them getting blown out by the Cardinals and allowing 9 runs in a game against the White Sox! I think things settle in today though as Joe Ryan held down a 3.6 ERA and 0.99 WHIP last season.

On the Astros side Hunter Brown is starting and he will need to be very good as the offense behind him is slumping hard. Houston is tied for last currently with just 2 runs scored per game and their biggest bat in Yordan Alvarez can’t hit anything! The Astros have gone under in 4 of 6 games thus far and I see that continuing today given the matchup, so I’ll take the under on 7.5 runs tonight.

  • Expert Astros vs. Twins Picks:
    • Houston vs. Minnesota Under 7.5 Runs (-120 on ESPN Bet)
