It has been a fantastic start to the 2025 MLB season and we want to keep the good time rolling with another strong output from the Fantasy Alarm MLB Best Bets for today.
We have a 13-game slate that starts off at 1:35pm ET and is loaded with some outstanding match-ups. We get to see the debut of another Japanese hurler in Tomoyuki Sugano of the Baltimore Orioles, Jacob deGrom makes his hallowed return to the mound for the Texas Rangers and, of course, everyone wants to see what Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees do for an encore after mashing nine home runs and playing 20 runs on Saturday. Plenty of excitement headed our way and we’re ready to turn a profit on it all with our MLB best bets today.
MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 3/30
We always like to preach transparency here at Fantasy Alarm, so I always want to make sure we get a little recap from the last run. I handled the prop bets on Opening Day for Underdog, PrizePicks and those DFS pick ‘em sites and struggled. Then I went 1-3 with my best bets on Friday, so, obviously not the best start. But we turned everything around Saturday as I went 6-for-7 on my affiliate props and am ready to do the same with the MLB best bets for today.

Rockies vs. Rays Prediction: Sunday, March 30th
Neither offense is performing well to open the season. The Rockies have plated just four runs through their first two games with a .226 wOBA and a 30-percent strikeout rate. Now they have to contend with Taj Bradley whose overall ratios have been average at best, but has great swing-and-miss stuff with a career swinging-strike rate north of 12-percent. Once he turns it over to the bullpen, one of the Rays biggest assets, they should combine to hold down this Colorado lineup.
On the other side, the Rockies are throwing right-hander Ryan Feltner whose numbers may look pretty pedestrian, but the uptick in strikeout rate this spring, combined with his massive improvements over the second half of last season (3.00 ERA while limiting hitters toa .226 average over 60 innings) gives promise to his ability to keep this Rays lineup in check. Tanpa may have generated a healthy .324 wOBA over the first two games, but they haven’t generated much in the way of power or run production.
- Expert Rockies vs. Rays Picks:
- Rockies vs. Rays Under 8 runs (-115 on BetMGM)
Guardians vs. Royals Prediction: Sunday, March 30th
Two of my favorite pitchers are squaring off today and I’m looking to invest in both. Cleveland righty Tanner Bibee was scratched from his Opening Day start due to illness, but he has since healed up and has taken in plenty of fluids. I think he’ll be totally fine, but with any illness, you do have to worry about overall stamina, so we’ll just focus on the first five innings for this bet. The Royals have talent on their roster, but Bibee has great stuff, strikes out a little more than a batter per inning and is coming off an outstanding spring.
On the other side is Michael Wacha who is probably one of the most underrated pitchers in baseball. He’s been the model of consistency, posting an ERA no higher than 3.35 over the past three seasons and he does a fantastic job keeping the ball inside the park despite being a flu-ball pitcher. The Guardians are likely to be without Jose Ramirez who suffered a wrist sprain and the rest of the lineup lacks true power or consistency.
- Expert Guardians vs. Royals Picks:
- Guardians vs. Royals 1st 5 Innings Under 4 runs (-125 on BetMGM)
Best MLB Prop Bets & other Picks Today, 3/30
- Marcell Ozuna over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (-115 on BetMGM)
- Twins ML (-118 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Player News
Daulton Varsho picked up three hits, three RBI and a homer in a win over the Angels on Thursday.
Varsho has only played in seven games this year, but they’ve been seven good ones. He’s homered three times already, and his slugging percentage is a remarkable — and entirely unsustainable — .727 over 22 at-bats. Varsho has been a mediocre offensive player in his two seasons with the Blue Jays, but it’s possible at the age of 28 he’s having a breakout campaign. Far from a guarantee, but possible.
Taylor Ward hit a two-run homer in a loss to the Blue Jays on Thursday.
Ward, 31, gave the Angels a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer off Chris Bassitt in the first inning. He’s now gone deep in two of his last three games, and it ‘improves’ his slash to .181/.224/.391. Ward has been one of the most hot/cold players players in the sport over the last few years, so fantasy managers who can afford to make some roster moves may want to look at Ward while the going is good.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. picked up three hits and scored twice in an 8-5 win over the Angels on Thursday.
Guerrero also drew a walk. It gives the first baseman multiple hits in back-to-back games, and it’s the third time in May that he’s reached that mark. That’s helped raise his average from .268 to .295, and the only thing fantasy managers can be disappointed with is his .432 slugging percentage. That number should continue to climb as the season unfolds, but Vladdy Jr. has had some inconsistent seasons when it comes to power production.
Chad Green picked up his first save of 2025 with a scoreless ninth against the Angels on Thursday.
Green got the save after Jeff Hoffman worked in back-to-back games — and struggled — in the first two contests against the Angels. He struck out two and looked the part while needing just nine pitches to get through the inning. Hoffman should remain the closer, but Green is on his tail if the struggles were to continue.
Chris Bassitt allowed five runs — four earned — while working six-plus innings against the Angels on Thursday while picking up a win.
Bassitt allowed three runs over the first two innings on a pair of homers, but settled down over his next four frames. He came out to work the seventh, but ended up being charged for two more runs after leaving the contest. The 36-year-old veteran has forged a 3.35 ERA and outstanding 49/8 K/BB ratio over the first quarter of the season, but this wasn’t him at his best. He’ll get the Rays next week if the rotation order stays the same for Toronto.
José Soriano allowed three runs over five innings while not factoring in the decision Thursday against the Blue Jays.
Soriano left with a 4-3 lead, but it was erased quickly after his departure. The 26-year-old was not exactly dominant in his outing with eight hits allowed and four free passes, but he did strike out six to help balance things out a smidgen. Soriano takes an even ERA of 4.00 into a scheduled start against the Padres in San Diego on Tuesday. There should be better options for that one.
