MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 7/9

We’re looking for a big rebound from Monday’s MLB Predictions. Last week was a nice heater for us as we rebuilt our bankroll, but no one wins every day, do they? Of course, we should have known better than to bet on daytime baseball, but sometimes we have to go with where the slate brings us.

We missed on a number of pitcher props and the Cincinnati Reds didn’t break their game open until late, but luckily, the Los Angeles Angels bailed us out and we cashed a pair of late bets to help stop the bleeding. We’ll get it back today!

  • Yesterday’s Record: 2-6
  • Season Record: 311-267-6

Athletics vs. Red Sox Prediction: Tuesday, July 9

Brayan Bello may be coming off his best start since mid-April but come on – it was against Miami. As bad as the A’s might be, Miami is a million times worse, and Oakland has actually been all sorts of fired up lately. Over the past week, the A’s have posted the fourth-highest wOBA (.359) with a .226 ISO and a strikeout rate sitting just under 21-percent. That’s unbelievable for this club.

Prior to his last start, Bello had just one quality start in his previous six outings and failed to pitch past the fifth inning in three of four. The inconsistencies are wild and maybe he’s tiring out here at the tail end of the first half. We’ll side with the A’s bats right now to start today’s MLB best bets, which Vegas seems to be doing as well.

Rockies vs. Reds Prediction: Tuesday, July 9

Yes, that’s right. We’re going right back to the well for this exact same bet as yesterday’s MLB picks. The Reds had the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth yesterday and failed to capitalize. They scored twice, but just couldn’t get that third run across the plate for us.

Then they turned around and opened things up in the eighth, scoring four runs as if just to taunt us. Well, with Cal Quantrill on the mound and the Reds bats heating up at home, I’m just running the exact same bet out today.

Blue Jays vs. Giants Prediction: Tuesday, July 9

The rationale behind my final MLB predictions today is pretty simple for me. First and foremost, I just don’t believe in Blake Snell

This is another first-game back from yet another injury and while the Blue Jays bats have been relatively quiet over the past week, they don’t strike out against lefties (18.6-percent) and Snell hasn’t pitched five innings in the majors and hasn’t allowed fewer than three earned runs in any outing this season. The Giants have good numbers against lefties, but more like league-average almost.

The .327 wOBA ranks up there, but there’s mid-level power (.153 ISO) and a 21.6-percent strikeout rate. Over the past week, it’s been even worse with a 29-percent K-rate and a .282 wOBA. Yusei Kikuchi has had some recent struggles, but he tossed 5.2 innings against the Astros his last time out and allowed just two earned runs. With the way Houston hits lefties, I’m encouraged that he can go just as far into this game.
