Royals vs. Blue Jays Prediction: Wednesday, May 1st
Starting with a mid-afternoon game to start off today’s MLB predictions as the Royals and Blue Jays wrap up their 3-game series all knotted up with each team taking a win so far. I am going to be backing the road team today for many reasons, the first of which is an odds miscalculation on the part of the books.
Models project this closer to a 50/50 game, yet the Royals are +115 or around there on many sportsbooks. The next reason is that the Royals have the advantage on the mound as Seth Lugo will pitch against Chris Bassitt. Bassitt has really struggled this season while Lugo is holding down a 1.66 ERA right now. You should see by now that the Royals as underdogs is a bit puzzling.
I am also going to tack on a player prop that is chalky, but it’s totally mispriced with Bassitt, as his outs prop sits at 18.5 for today. He has only accomplished this number in 2 of 6 starts and those games were against struggling offenses. Royals hit righties well, especially the top of the order, so count on Bassitt going a flat 6 innings at the very most.
- Expert Royals vs. Blue Jays Picks:
- Kansas City Moneyline (+115 on DraftKings)
- Chris Bassitt (TOR) Under 18.5 Outs Recorded (-180 on DraftKings)
Braves vs. Mariners Prediction: Wednesday, May 1st
This matchup today is going to be a story of stats correcting themselves as the Braves have dropped the opening pair of games in this series and Emerson Hancock of the Mariners has had 3 straight starts looking way too good. Atlanta ranks 1st in MLB when it comes to runs scored per game on the road at an even 6, so you can expect them to pop off tonight.
Their team total run number sits at 4.5 which is fair given the players in the lineup, but not often do you get that number at plus odds, and that has my attention for the first of this game’s MLB best bets. On top of that though, the Braves don’t get swept and for a team that is 8-5 on the road this season, they should bounce back and get this win today.
Then there’s a player prop to add into the mix, and it's Marcell Ozuna getting the nod today as he’s crushing righties right now but only has 1 hit this series so far. Seems like the perfect chance to jump in and get some action on him as his number is 1.5 for hits+runs+RBIs this afternoon, a feat he has accomplished 19 times already this season.
- Expert Braves vs. Marlins Picks:
- Atlanta Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (+110 on BetMGM)
- Atlanta Moneyline (-170 on FanDuel)
- Marcell Ozuna (ATL) Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs (-110 on DraftKings)
Giants vs. Red Sox Prediction: Wednesday, May 1st
Time to get on the wagon of the surging Red Sox who come into tonight winners of 3 straight games and 7 of their last 10! The good times should continue to roll on as the Giants are struggling on offense of late and they won’t get relief going up against Kutter Crawford and his nasty 1.35 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 33.1 innings of work.
The Giants have not released who will be starting on their side of the mound, but it doesn’t change my love for the Sox tonight. Let’s add a player prop on Crawford as well, shall we? He’s been dominant this season in all, but one start and he is averaging right around 6 strikeouts per game!
Imagine my surprise when his prop was found at 5.5 Ks for tonight’s action! He should be able to hit that, but as an added bonus, the Giants strikeout at the 7th highest rate on the road this season, let’s lock these into our final MLB picks of the day!
- Expert Giants vs. Red Sox Picks:
- Boston Moneyline (-120 on FanDuel)
- Kutter Crawford (BOS) Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-105 on DraftKings)
