Time to check in with the MLB Best Bets and Betting Picks as we have an exciting 15-game slate spread out throughout the day, opening up at 12:10pm ET with a battle for supremacy in the AL East as the Baltimore Orioles continue to inch closer to the Tampa Bay Rays for the division lead. Do we want to bet this one? We had a nice discussion about this particular game on A Bettor Morning which you can check out on the Fantasy Alarm YouTube channel and the field may have swayed me so you can check it out and see what I said earlier. As for the rest of our MLB betting picks today, let’s dive in before we start seeing some line movement that hurts the betting odds for us.

  • Monday’s Record: 1-3
  • Season Record: 92-90-2
  • Bankroll: -8.06 units

We need a strong rebound here from Monday as we were just about to right the ship when we ran into a brick wall, so let’s get it back.

MLB Best Bets for June 21

Toronto Blue Jays at Miami Marlins

There is always concern about backing a visiting team down in Miami, given the nightlife, but the hope here is the early start, a (hopefully) early curfew and the struggles of Sandy Alcantara give us the boost we need to back the Blue Jays. After dropping two of three to the Rangers and then the first game of this series, the Jays bounced back yesterday and are looking to ride that momentum. The pressure is on with the way the rest of the AL East is playing and these bats need to wake up. The confidence level in starter Kevin Gausman is strong and with the way Alcantara has pitched, we expect to the see Toronto jump out to an early lead. How the game finishes up is irrelevant to us right now. We just want the lead after the first half.

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays 1st 5 Innings Money Line (-125 on DraftKings Sportsbook)

St. Louis Cardinals at Washington Nationals

I’m not usually a big BvP guy but a look at how the Cardinals lineup fares against righthander Trevor Williams, you have to be intrigued. Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado and Paul DeJong (six-game hit streak) have all had success against him and with the way Jordan Walker (12-game hit streak) and Brendan Donovan (nine-game hit streak) have been swinging the bat lately, this offense could have a big day today. In fact, the Cardinals have won four in a row and have averaged over seven runs per game in that span. Williams hasn’t pitched past the sixth inning in nine of his last 10 starts and he’s coughed up 11 home runs in that span. St. Louis knows they need to turn things around and they’ll take advantage of a soft match-up here.

Pick: St. Louis Cardinals Team Total over 4.5 runs (+100 on BetMGM)

Pick: Nolan Arenado over 0.5 RBI (+130 on BetMGM)

Arizona Diamondbacks at Milwaukee Brewers

I actually gave out a pick for this game in the Bettor Sports Network morning email, so you already know which way the lean is if you read it. Probably not a big surprise that I want to back Zac Gallen against a Brewers team that has a .304 wOBA with a near-25-percent strikeout rate against righthanders this season and has been striking out 28.7-percent of the time over the past week. Somehow, the Brewers bounced back last night and overcame a four-run deficit, so obviously there is some hesitancy of looking at the full game. Even though his road numbers have been a little suspect, Gallen should be just fine in this match-up and we’re just looking for him to hold down the fort for the first half while the bats, who have posted a .338 wOBA with a .180 ISO over the past week, work over Julio Teheran. Yes, the 32-year-old has had a bit of a renaissance, but the peripherals indicate regression. I’m not saying he gets completely blown up, but the DBacks should end up with a lead in the first half of this game.

Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks 1st 5 innings -0.5 run line (-115 on Caesars Sportsbook)
