The series is now even at three games apiece with Game 7 back in the famed Madison Square Garden Sunday. Carter opened the scoring with his first period goal and the Penguins actually led 2-0 after one period before faltering. Carter has yet to pick up an assist in the six-game series and is a minus-five along with his four goals. 

Carter got his work in early -- on a first-period goal against a beleaguered Igor Shesterkin -- and late -- empty-net with just over a minute remaining in regulation. The graybeard forward did not register a point in either of the first two games in this series. On the postseason board, now, after posting 19 goals and 45 points in 76 regular-season games. He'll try to keep a good thing going when the Penguins play host to the Rangers in Game 4 on Monday.

Carter posted a goal against Mike Smith five-plus minutes into the second period. While that temporarily tied up the contest, Pittsburgh would be unable to strike for further offensive gold over the remainder of the contest. Overall this season, Carter has tallied 19 goals and 44 points across 75 games played. Those 44 points are the most Carter has posted in a season since he went for 66 with the Kings during the 2016-17 campaign.

Carter left Thursday's game against Boston late in the third period and he was being evaluated for a lower-body injury. He skated between Danton Heinen and Kasperi Kapanen during Friday's session. Carter has 18 goals and 42 points in 72 games this season to go along with 192 shots and 99 hits.
