Tre McBride
Player News
McBride was waived by the Jaguars on Saturday, Phillip Heilman of The Athletic reports.
McBride was looking to earn a depth receiving role, but ultimately failed to make enough of an impression at camp. He is not eligible to be picked up on the team's practice squad, so he will be forced to look for a new opportunity.
McBride caught three of seven targets, totaling 37 receiving yards during Thursday's 31-12 preseason loss to the Falcons.
On a night when Jaguars receivers couldn't catch a cold, McBride led the group as he had for much of the preseason. The 26-year-old pass catcher retains an outside shot at a roster spot given his past experience contributing on special teams, as well as the fact that he's been first or second on the team in receiving yardage for each of its four exhibition games this year, with 42 more total receiving yards than any other Jaguars wideout.
McBride caught four of five targets for 47 yards in Thursday's preseason contest against the Eagles.
McBride was the lone pass catcher with multiple receptions (three) or double-digit receiving yards (43) in the preseason opener. The 26-year-old hasn't seen regular-season action since 2017 with the Bears, a season in which he played eight games.
McBride signed a contract with the Jaguars on Thursday.
McBride was let go by the Redskins on April 30 after the team drafted a pair of receivers. The four-year-pro joins a Jacksonville squad whose only addition to the receiving corps via the draft was tight end Josh Oliver in the third round. Either way, McBride will likely be joined by 11 other wide receivers heading into training camp in late July.
