After a report came out earlier this month stating that if Patriots OT Sebastian Vollmer was placed on the injured reserve after making the 53 man roster, he would miss the rest of the season. Vollmer has been dealing with hip and shoulder issues, injuries he sustained at the end of the regular season last year. Instead he did not make the 53 man roster, and the Pats placed him on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. This means that he is not eligible to play or practice for the first six weeks of the season. He may not even return at that point, bu this leaves the window of possibility open should his condition improve.

The bad news has continued to break out of Foxboro today, as it appears as though one of their best offensive lineman, Sebastian Vollmer, is on his way to the injured reserve list which would end his season before it even started. Vollmer's injury has been undisclosed until now, and his absence will certainly leave a huge void in a Patriots offensive line that struggled last year. Dante Scarnecchia has returned to coach the Patriots offensive line again and he will certainly have his work cut out for him with Vollmer out for the season and Shaq Mason missing extended time due to a broken hand.

Volmer is a huge part of this Patriots offense line and they will need him healthy if they want to make another run at a title this year. It is being reported that he will be healthy in time for the Patriots playoff matchup which is a great sign for the squad.
