Pierre Thomas

After spending most of the season a free agent, he was given a chance with the Redskins and he took full advantage of his situation. Thomas has always been a very good pass catcher out of the backfield, which is what he mostly did for the Redskins. He'll have to contend with the quicker, younger, Chris Thompson for the Skins receiving RB in 2016, if he wants to stay in Washington.

The Redskins main receiving threat out of the backfield in Chris Thompson is battling a torn labrum in his shoulder right now, so Thomas will conceivably work into that role in Washington. He has registered just four carries for 12 yards this year so it's safe to avoid him on the waiver wire as he first has to learn some of the Redskins offense.

Well that did not last long, one game to be exact. The 49ers obviously preferred Shaun Draughn in their offensive plans in their Week 9 win over the Falcons. The 49ers have signed veteran running back Travaris Cadet to replace Thomas on the active roster. We doubt that Thomas will be able to find a new home before the end of the season.

This almost makes Thomas an immediate grab, especially if you miss out on the week's top waiver options like DeAngelo Williams or Jeremy Langford. The 49ers have obviously given up on the season having traded Vernon Davis and benched Colin Kaepernick, but they're going to have to play out the rest of the season with some semblance of respectability. They may open the practice week with Kendall Gaskins and Shaun Draughn taking first-team reps but it really won't be long before Thomas leapfrogs the both of them on the depth chart.
