Nick Mangold
Player News
Nick Mangold has no plans to call it a career. Mangold faces an uncertain playing future, but retiring is far from his thoughts despite an injury-filled 11th NFL season.
The veteran was the definition of durability through the first 10 years of his career, but an ankle injury derailed the offensive lineman this season. The Jets could part ways without any significant cap hit and there’s a strong possibility that happens. Wherever Mangold lands, he should help anchor the offensive line in 2017.
Jets placed Nick Mangold (ankle) on injured reserve.
With the season completely lost and almost over, the Jets didn't mess around and place Mangold on IR. 2017 is the final year on the 33-year old's seven-year deal he signed back prior to the 2011 season.
Jets are shutting down C Nick Mangold.
Mangold has been dealing with an ankle injury, and re-injured last week against the Colts. The Jets feel shutting him down is the best option at this point. Wesley Johnson will start in his place.
Jets C Nick Mangold (ankle) is visiting specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina on Thursday.
The veteran suffered a setback as he tried to make a return from an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined since Week 7. Depending on the news, Mangold could be shut down for the remainder of the season. Wesley Johnson will continue to fill in if Mangold remains out.
