Nate Washington worked out for the Buccaneers.
Washington has been a productive WR3 the past few years, despite not being able to stick with New England earlier this summer. No word on whether the Bucs will offer him a contract, but he would provide decent depth at WR behind WR1 Mike Evans, with Vincent Jackson on the IR.
Saints worked out Nate Washington on Wednesday.
The Saints have invited several free agent wide receivers to work out for them, including Washington, Rueben Randle, Andre Caldwell and Greg Little. Washington was released by the Patriots on Roster Cut day this past weekend. Last season, Washington caught 47 balls for 658 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Houston Texans. If Washington gets signed by the Saints, he will likely be the fourth wide receiver or lower on the depth chart.
Patriots released WR Nate Washington.
Washington’s questionable status on the roster dates back to off-season workouts when it was reported he couldn’t get on the same page as Tom Brady. The veteran receiver needed a great training camp to survive, but that was not the case. Washington will hope to catch on with another team prior to the start of the season. There should be a team that will take a shot on the 32-year-old as he still averaged 14 yards per catch in 2015 with four touchdowns so there is still something left in the tank.
Nate Washington is in full pads for Friday's practice.
Washington is fighting for a roster spot in New England, and will need every practice rep with his new team in order to make it. If he does make the team, he'll be competing with a lot of mouths to feed. The Patriots have a ton of average wideout depth and brought in Martellus Bennett to pair with Gronk. It's unlikely Washington carves out a role.
