Mike James

James finished the season as a part of Detroit's practice squad. James has played 23 games (three starts) for the Buccaneers since 2013. In 2016, he got into four games for for the Buccs, gaining 19 yards on four carries and 22 yards on four receptions.

The signing carries no fantasy value at this point. The Lions may be looking for a little RB depth. They recently waived Justin Forsett and Theo Riddick seems to be Questionable heading in to each game. That leaves Dwayne Washington to carry most of the workload in the event Riddick is unable to play so James gives them a little bit of RB depth within their practice squad.

This should tip the hand in knowing that Jacquizz Rodgers is ready to return to the field for the Bucs. James never really had any value other than a warm body in the backfield to get through injuries. He may catch on elsewhere, though it's unlikely.

The Buccaneers released him on an injury settled just last month but Tampa Bay is in desperate need of a running back and it is no surprise that he's picking back up the offense quickly. Doug Martin is expected back any day but we haven't see him, Jacquizz Rodgers is a long shot for Week 10 and it will come down to James and Peyton Barber.
