Michael Mauti will miss the remainder of the season due to ulcerative colitis.
The core special teamer will undergo surgery and will hope to make a full recovery in order to play in the league next season. Mauti will be a free agent after this season, but his health at this point is more important.
Michael Mauti is suffering from ulcerative colitis which will require surgery.
He was placed on the non-football injury list ahead of the Week 10 game against Denver but was just list out with an illness. Now we know more of the extant of his injury. Mauti will now miss the rest of the season while rehabbing from the surgery but he should be able to come back from it and continue his playing career next season.

After not playing in Week 10 due to an illness, Mauti will miss the remainder of the year on the injured reserve/non-football injury list. This is a tough blow for the Saints as he was their special teams captain. He finished his 2016 campaign with just nine tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.
The Saints have claimed former Vikings linebacker Michael Mauti off waivers.
With Dannell Ellerbe dealing with an undisclosed injury, Mauti will help provide some depth for the Saints linebacker corps. He won't see much in the way of reps though unless there's a major injury.
