Matt Hasselbeck
Player News
Matt Hasselbeck has retired and joined the ESPN network as an NFL analyst.
Hasselbeck's career began in 1999 and he had a few huge seasons as the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. In his career, Hasselbeck finished with 36,638 passing yards and 212 touchdowns. Hasselbeck had a chance to play a lot in 2015 for the Colts due to Andrew Luck being injured and he finished with 1,690 passing yards and nine touchdowns.
Colts will move on from Matt Hasselbeck if he decides to play in 2016.
Hasselbeck was 5-3 as a starter in 2015, and did enough to keep the Colts in the playoff hunt. It could also be argued that he helped save Chuck Pagano's job. The veteran signal caller shouldn't be a consideration in any league going into 2016.
Matt Hasselbeck is leaning towards returning for the 2016 season.
After nearly two decades in the NFL, it seems that Hasselbeck isn't done yet. While he played admirably last season, it was evident his 40-year-old body just isn't what it once was, as Hasselbeck was forced to endure numerous injuries before eventually being placed on inured reserve. If he does return, the Colts will most likely carry three quarterbacks into the season as a precautionary measure.
Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder, ribs) has been ruled out for Week 17.
No surprise here as Hasselbeck has a list of injuries longer than the patient list at St. Vincent's Memorial Hospital. His shoulder is battered and his jaw is still busted up and he is not able to play this week. Hasselbeck proved to be a real trooper over these last few weeks, but the bumps, bruises and breaks have finally proven to be too much. Either Josh Freeman or Ryan Lindley will be under center for Week 17.
