Jets waive Kyle Brindza with non-football injury designation after he tore his Achilles working out.
Brindza appeared in four games for the Buccaneers last season, going 6-for-12 in field goal attempts and 6-for-8 in extra point attempts. His torn achilles will likely end his 2016 season.
Jets have signed Kyle Brindza to a futures deal.
After losing Nick Folk for the last month of the 2015 season, the Jets have added a former Buccaneers kicker for depth at tryouts. New York has signed Kyle Brindza to a futures deal to provide competition at training camp. Brindza did kick his way out of the Tampa Bay job missing six field goals prior to being cut in October. As long as Folk is healthy, the job should be his in 2016.
Buccaneers cut PK Kyle Brindza.
The former Buccaneers kicker made only 6 of 12 (50%) field goal attempts and made only 6 of 8 (75%) extra point attempts this season in Tampa. Week 4 was the nail in his coffin for Brindza after missing a 29 yard, a 43 yard and an extra point to boot. It has been a rough week for kickers in the NFL starting with Josh Scobee's terrible Thursday night.
Kyle Brindza was 1-for-3 on field goal attempts and converted 2-of-3 extra point attempts during the Buccaneers' 37-23 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
This was not a good day for Brindza. The rookie missed three field goals and an extra point last week and followed it up with an equally awful performance on Sunday. It's anyone's guess whether the Bucs will stick with him, but he could be on the chopping block this week.
