Redskins activated C Kory Lichtensteiger from the reserve/injured list.
Lichtensteiger has been on IR since September 27th and will likely serve as the backup Center going forward. As the corresponding move, the Redskins cut DT AJ Francis.
Redskins are putting center Kory Lichtensteiger on injured reserve with a calf injury.
The calf injury was described as moderate, however it still hasn't deterred the Redskins from making the move. Washington has signed John Sullivan to the roster on Tuesday to presumably be the new starting center for at least the next eight weeks. Just because the he is on the IR doesn't mean that he is automatically out for the rest of the year as he could be placed on the designated to return list.
Kory Lichtensteiger has taken a pay cut from $3.25 million to $2.25 million and can earn $1.25 million back in incentives.
The center is battling Spencer Long for the starting role, and has two years left on his contract. He likely needed to take the pay cut in order to make it through the final round of cuts.
Redskins activated C Kory Lichtensteiger from the injured reserve-return list.
Lichtensteiger has been the Redskins starting center since he joined the team in 2010 but was placed on IR after suffering a pinched nerve in his neck back in November. This activation could not come at a better time as the Redskins gear up for their playoff matchup this Sunday.
