Joey Iosefa

Much like was the case with RB Tyler Gaffney, the Patriots seemed to have little use Saturday for FB Joey Iosefa as he was released from the final roster. With James White and LeGarrette Blount carrying a bulk of the workload, the bruiser didn't seem to offer enough to remain.

The Patriots released Iosefa last Friday only to bring him back this Friday. A product of the University of Hawaii, Iosefa played in two games for the Patriots last season and will provide depth in the offensive backfield.

As the Patriots adjust the roster, they made a cut on Friday. Joey Iosefa was released by New England. Iosefa had 15 carries for 51 yards last year after signing with the Patriots from the Tampa Bay practice squad. Iosefa will be a free agent and will try to catch on in time for training camp.

Iosefa was released by the Patriots earlier this week, but cleared waivers and will now try to crack the 53-man roster once again. The Patriots have been ravaged with injuries at the running back position which opened up an opportunity for Iosefa. The rookie carried the ball 15 times for the Patriots in the last two games with 14 of those carries coming in Week 15 as he rushed for 51 yards. Iosefa’s roster spot became expendable after the Patriots signed Steven Jackson.
