Douglas appeared in four games between Buffalo and Washington as a deep reserve last season. The 30-year-old former fourth-round pick will serve as veteran depth with the Giants.

Formerly with the Miami Dolphins, Douglas made six starts as a rookie in 2015 and played in all 16 games. He brings some experience to the Patriots practice squad, and could see some time on the active roster at some point this season.

The Dolphins brought Douglas up to play for them in Thursday Nights game and on Friday they waived him. Expect the Dolphins to sign him back to their practice squad if he clears waivers.

This comes as a shock, as he was being projected as the starter at right guard as late as Friday. Jermon Bushrod is now listed as the starter, with Billy Turner as the primary backup.
