Gosder Cherilus
Player News
Gosder Cherilus signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers Monday.
No surprise here, as the Bucs just experienced an injury on the offensive line a couple of days ago. Cherilus might have a legitimate shot at starting right away, but if not, he will likely serve as the Buccaneers swing tackle going forward.
Gosder Cherilus will visit with the Buccaneers on Monday.
Demar Dotson was injured on Saturday against the Vikings and will be out for six weeks. Cherilus will visit Tampa Bay in the hopes of securing a contract for the first couple of weeks of the season as protection for Jameis Winston.
Gosder Cherilus will be visiting the Buccaneers in Tampa on Monday.
The Buccaneers have invested heavily in their offensive line this offseason, spending their two second round picks on a tackle (Donovan Smith) and a guard (Ali Marpet). Cherilus would simply provide some depth and a veteran presence for their younger, retooled, offensive line headed into the 2015 season, where the team is tasked with protecting a rookie passer in Jameis Winston.
Free-agent T Gosder Cherilus was scheduled to visit the Lions Thursday.
Cherilus was a first round pick for the Lions back in 2008 and appeared in 75 games for the team until he became a free agent following the 2012 season. He has dealt with knee injuries in recent years, so the Lions will have to make sure his medicals check out before they bring him into the fold again.
