It is never good when you can't make the Lions offensive line. He was signed to a one year deal in March but disappointed in camp and preseason. It's likely that the move the Lions made for Brandon Thomas on Sunday was the end of the road for Schwartz. He is still a veteran with plenty of starting experience, he'll likely find a new home.

Schwartz started 11 games last season for the Lions and with being cleared for off-season workouts he should be ready for the start of training camp where he figures to again compete for a starting role along the offensive line.

Schwartz is an effective lineman, but has struggled with injuries in recent seasons which has led the Giants to release the veteran two years into a four-year contract. The Lions are banking on the talent and continue to add pieces to a team that failed to make the playoffs in 2015.

Schwartz has met with a few teams during the free agency period and has potential at both the guard and tackle position, but figures to play best at the guard position. His last two seasons have been ruined by injuries, but if he can return to his old form, a team could be getting a cheap contract with a ton of upside.
