Chris Matthews
Player News
Chris Matthews has re-signed with the Ravens.
After playing in just four games last season, Matthews has resigned with the Ravens. In those aforementioned games, Matthews made nine receptions for 97 yards and one touchdown. He'll start 2016 way down on the Baltimore depth chart.
Chris Matthews was promoted to the Ravens' active roster on Saturday.
After blowing up in last year's Super Bowl against the Patriots, Chris Matthews was waived by Seattle after only four catches in nine games this year. Baltimore could give Matthews a good chunk of playing time the remainder of the year to see what they might have in him for next season. With Steve Smith Sr. saying this would be his last year and then tearing his Achilles they may be in need of another receiver as it isn't exactly a strength for them. Matthews could be a big target in the red-zone for Matt Schaub this year and Joe Flacco next year. He should not be stashed at this time for a keeper league.
The Ravens had an open spot on the roster with OT Eugene Monroe being placed on IR with a shoulder injury. Matthews joins a bad wide receiver corps in Baltimore, and despite the lack of talent around him, is not exactly a bright, shining offensive threat. Realize that his QBs going into the end of the season are Matt Schaub and Jimmy Clausen, so that limits his potential value dramatically.
Ravens have signed WR Chris Matthews to their practice squad.
Matthews was cut last week from Seattle after Paul Richardson returned to the 53-man roster and it now looks like he will add to the mediocre wideout depth in Baltimore. The Ravens season has been done for a while but now with Joe Flacco and Justin Forsett on the shelf for the rest of the year, Matthews is joining a squad that has very little fantasy relevance as a whole.
Seahawks are waiving WR Chris Matthews.
The 26-year-old Kentucky product has done practically nothing all season despite playing in nine games for Seattle, registering a measly four catches for 54 yards total. He will now have to find work elsewhere and Paul Richardson should be in line to take his snaps.
