Chris Clemons
Player News
Chris Clemons informed the Seahawks of his retirement.
Clemons played 13 seasons in the NFL and played in 162 career games. He spent time with the Redskins, Raiders, Eagles, Seahawks, and Jaguars. For his career, Clemons recorded 200 tackles and 69 sacks. The veteran defensive lineman signed a one-year deal with Seattle this past offseason, but is going to forego a final season in favor of retirement.
Chris Clemons has agreed to a deal with the Seahawks.
In the earlier part of this decade, Clemons had his best years with the Seahawks. He had three straight seasons with 11 or more sacks, which happen to be the only three seasons he reached double-figures. The 13-year pro is a shell of what he once was, but he'll really help the Seahawks pass rushing depth.
DE's Chris Clemons and James Jones are visiting with Miami Saturday.
The Dolphins seem intent on adding as much depth to their defensive line as possible, after inking Mario Williams to a contract this past week. Clemons was cut by Jacksonville earlier this month to save cap space. At 34, he would be a depth signing for the Dolphins. Jones was a major bright spot for the Packers this past season, but was cut with the expectation that both Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb can handle the bulk of the pass catching duties for Green Bay going forward. Miami's depth at WR is not so great that Jones, even at 31 going on 32, would not improve their depth.
Jaguars DE Chris Clemons was released Thursday.
Clemons appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars last season but saw a decline in production as he totaled just 14 tackles and three sacks in 2015 after totaling 36 tackles and eight sacks for the Jaguars in 2014.
