Texans released OG A.J. Cann.
Cann's release comes the same day the Texans acquired Shaq Mason, who will presumably slide in as Cann's replacement at right guard. The move creates $4.22 million in cap space, not that the Texans need it. 31-year-old Cann wasn't an asset in either the passing or running game last season, but he wasn't exactly a liability, either. The former longtime Jaguar will likely resurface for someone's camp competition this summer.
Texans agreed to terms with OG A.J. Cann, formerly of the Jaguars, on a two-year, $10.5 million contract.
Cann, 30, spent the first seven seasons of his career in Jacksonville but is now heading to the division-rival Texans. He's primarily played right guard in his seven years in the league and will likely slot in for a starting job on an undermanned Houston offensive line.
Jaguars signed guard A.J. Cann on Wednesday.
Cann was the Jags third-round pick this year and will hope to improve on Jacksonville's mundane running game. For the Jags, their main concern is still to sign the future of the franchise, quarterback Marcus Mariota.
