Leuer had stints with five NBA teams with his best seasons being in Phoenix and Detroit. His career was derailed by injuries shortly after signing a four-year, $42 million deal with the Pistons. “I love the game of basketball. I still want to play, but I know deep down it’s not the right decision for my health anymore,” Leuer said on Instagram. The 31-year-old finishes with career averages of 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists. 

Leuer was acquired by the Bucks in mid-June in a trade that sent Tony Snell and the 30th pick of the 2019 NBA Draft to the Pistons, but he never received an opportunity to take the court with Milwaukee. Leuer averaged 3.8 points and 2.4 rebounds over 41 games a season ago with Detroit.

The veteran forward had a disappointing 2018-19 season as he struggled to find a consistent role in the Pistons' frontcourt, seeing his averages drop to a mere 3.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game over 41 appearances. He'll likely struggle to find time in a crowded Bucks frontcourt even with Brook Lopez and Nikola Mirotic set to hit free agency in July.

Leuer hasn't played a second in any of the last three games, and he wasn't even active for a matchup with the Lakers on Friday, but he'll move into the lineup alongside Andre Drummond up front. The Wisconsin product has appeared in only five games since the start of February.
