The Dominican Republic police have confirmed that Ventura was killed in an auto accident in the early morning hours on Sunday. Ventura was only 25 years old with electric stuff and a bright future.

Ventura did have nice control on Thursday night in Texas. He issued just one walk and allowed only four hits on the evening but three of the hits were solo home runs. Rougned Odor got the party started in the second inning followed by Moreland in the fifth and then Moreland again in the eighth which put the Rangers in the lead for good. Ventura lost his fifth straight decision on Thursday and moves his overall record to 6-9 on the season. The ERA stands at 4.88 over 20 starts. We can only hope that he can break the losing streak on Tuesday against the Rays.

Ventura looked good for plenty of stretches today, but as it has been for much of the season, walks were the undoing to his outing today. After today’s start, he has walked 3.81 batters per nine innings, which is simply too many to effectively pitch deep into games. He will look to get back on track in his next outing which is scheduled for Thursday at the Rangers.

Updating the previous report, Ventura has managed to avoid any fractured ribs. He should be good to go for his next start against the Rangers, but has been a major disappointment this season. He's currently rocking a bloated 4.99 ERA with a well below-average 6.77 K/9.
