Tsuyoshi Wada has been designated for assignment.
The Cubs weren't planning on using Wada during the playoffs so he is being bumped from the 40-man roster in favor of third-string catcher Taylor Teagarden. Just a procedural move for the Cubbies here.
The Cubs recalled LHP Tsuyoshi Wada from Triple-A Iowa.
Wada has been dealing with a shoulder issue which put him on the disabled list near the end of June. When he pitched with the Cubs, he owned a 3.73 ERA and 31/11 K/BB ratio over 31 1/3 innings. They will use him in a long relief role.
Tsuyoshi Wada has been activated from the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Iowa.
The 34-year-old veteran lefty has only managed to make seven starts for the Cubs this season through an injury riddled campaign. With the way the Cubs rotation is set right now there was no room for Wada now that he is activated so he will bide his time down in Iowa and should come back up either with an injury or an expansion of rosters in September. He has very little fantasy relevance at this point in the season.
Tsuyoshi Wada will make a rehab start for Double-A Tennessee on Monday.
Depending on how this rehab start goes, Wada will either get one more or be activated early next week. Expect the club to announce his impending return to the rotation soon.
