Stauffer appeared in only 18 games last season recording a 6.97 ERA. After an underwhelming spring, he did not earn himself a spot on the squad and will search for a new suitor after being released.

Stauffer is a former member of the Padres and has the ability to start or pitch in relief. He will likely get a long look during spring training.

This is just a procedural move for the Mets who are expected to bring in someone to replace Ruben Tejada on the playoff roster. Stauffer has no short term or even long term value to the club.

Stauffer appeared in 13 games for the Twins this season but was horrid, allowing 11 earned runs in 15 innings out of the bullpen. He will add some bullpen depth for the Mets but will likely only pitch in blowouts.
