Clevenger drew little interest from MLB organizations throughout the offseason, but has finally found a home in the independent leagues. The 31-year-old has a career .227/.284/.324 slash line in the majors and is unlikely to get an opportunity in 2017.

He was outrighted to Triple-A, but declined to accept that demotion. Instead, he will look to carry on as a back up catcher, the best he can hope for after a disappointing 2016 at the plate, slashing just .221/.303/.309 over 76 plate appearances.

Considering the M's are long gone from the 2016 MLB season, this means absolutely nothing to fantasy owners or Mariners fans for that matter. Clevenger will be a part of the regular season roster likely next season.
