Parra signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Parra is expected to report to minor-league camp. He should spend the year in the minors as organizational pitching depth, as he hasn't pitched in the majors since 2015 and is coming off a brutal 2017 season during which he struggled to a 14.09 ERA across 7.2 innings with the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate.
Parra, who signed a minor league contract with the Cubs in January, was reassigned to minor-league camp Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Parra, who owns a 4.90 ERA and 1.58 WHIP across 628 career innings in eight MLB seasons, was competing to make the roster as a lefty reliever. He'll now provide organizational depth.
Manny Parra re-signed a minor league deal with the Cubs.
Parra has no fantasy value going into the 2016 season.
Cubs have signed LHP Manny Parra to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training.
The 33 year old lefty reliever hasn't thrown more than 60 big league innings in a season since 2010 and has been more limited to a LOOGY role when he's been healthy. The Cubs will see what he has left in the tank after he posted a 3.90 ERA with a 6.40 K/9 over just 32 1/3 innings for the Reds last season. There's no fantasy value to be had here though, so whether he makes the big league roster or not, you're not going to be looking at him in drafts.
