Indians have released Juan Uribe.
The Indians designated the veteran infielder for assignment earlier in the week, and it looks as though he isn't interested in accepting a minor league assignment. With all of the injuries that the Mets are dealing with, perhaps a return to New York could be in his future. Uribe was only batting .206 with seven homers with the Tribe in 2016.
Indians designate INF Juan Uribe for assignment.
With the move to get Brandon Guyer from the Rays, some one had to come off the roster. Uribe was a late signing in spring training and just hasn't looked great for much of the season while playing the hot corner, hitting .206/.259/.332 with seven homers and 25 RBI in 73 games. Jose Ramirez will be the full-time third baseman from here on out and Uribe could be outrighted or waived.
Juan Uribe was not in the starting lineup Saturday after being hit on the helmet Friday.
It was a scary moment for Uribe and while he seemingly checked out OK it would make sense for the Indians to give him a day off on Saturday to relax a bit and fully recover from the experience.
Juan Uribe has been diagnosed with a head contusion.
This is actually a welcome diagnosis after Uribe was hit in the helmet with a pitch on Friday night. The veteran third baseman left the game and has been listed as day-to-day.
