Josmil Pinto has signed a minor league deal with the Giants.
The 27-year old actually has three years of major league experience but he hasn't played in more than 57 games in one season. Pinto has stayed in professional baseball due to his above average arm and defense, but doesn't have much pop in his bat.
Josmil Pinto declined his outright assignment to Triple-A Colorado Springs and became a free agent.
A career .257 hitter, Pinto has yet to make a significant impact in the majors, but profiles as a backup catcher on a roster. He does not offer much in fantasy.
RHP Yhonathan Barrios, RHP Ben Rowen and C Josmil Pinto have been outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
All three had been designed for assignment last week but have passed through waivers and will now remain with the organization. They could have elected to hit the minor league free agent market, but could still have been brought back in to the fold on minor league deals with Milwaukee. They should remain as organizational depth at the start of next season.
Brewers recalled Josmil Pinto from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Pinto will join the Brewers, filling the final spot on the 40-man roster. Pinto is formerly of the Twins organization where he appeared in 78 games across two seasons in 2013 and 2014. He's posted some decent numbers in that time, with 11 home runs and 30 RBI with a .257/.339/.445 slash line.
