2025 Player Outlook

Aside from not running much in 2022, India has been a consistent offensive option at the big-league level. He's hit double-digit home runs with double-digit stolen bases in three of his four seasons at the MLB level, and his average has been within .244-.249 in each of the last three seasons. He has a great feel for the strike zone, and his career walk rate of 10.5 percent makes him a logical fit atop the Kansas City order. The Royals will let him run, and as long as he stays healthy, India has a great chance to set a new career high in stolen bases and hitting in front of the likes of Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino, and Salvador Perez is good for those counting stats. He'll do a little bit of everything across the board, and he feels slightly undervalued at his current ADP.

Jonathan India, who missed Sunday’s game with right quad tightness before DHing on Monday, is out of the Royals lineup on Tuesday.

We’re going to assume this has to do with the quad. If healthy, he’d certainly be in the lineup against a left-hander in Max Fried. In his absence, the Royals have Maikel Garcia leading off and Cavan Biggio playing third base against a tough southpaw.

That he’s DHing for the first time this year would seem to be a nod to the quad. He’s not blocking anyone there, though. Salvador Perez was definitely due to catch after DHing three of the previous four days.

Jonathan India (quad) is absent from the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Guardians.

No surprise here after India made an early exit from Saturday’s contest with right quad tightness. It’ll be Maikel Garcia ascending to the leadoff spot in his absence. The versatile 28-year-old has gotten off to a frigid start at the dish in his Kansas City debut, so taking a couple days off to reset both mentally and physically might not be a bad idea.

India was 0-for-2 with a walk before leaving the contest, likely for precautionary reasons. The 28-year-old has gotten off to a frigid start this season in his Royals debut, hitting .208 (11-for-53) with zero homers, three RBI and zero steals in 15 games.
