Thatcher went 11-16 in his nine year career, playing for four different teams. His career ERA was at 3.38 and his 9.3 K/9 career mark were solid for a reliever. Best of luck in retirement.

This will be Thatcher's 3rd team this season. It's likely that he'll be used in low-leverage situations and just gives the Cubs an extra bullpen piece if they need a fresh arm. The journeymen owns a 3.42 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over his career with more than a strikeout per inning.

Unfortunately for Thatcher Saturday marks the second time this season he has been let go by a MLB team. He hadn't pitched since June 3rd after being picked up by the Indians when the Dodgers released him.

Thatcher appeared in 17 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City before opting out of his deal with Los Angeles. The lefty has spent a career cycling from the minors to the majors and at age 34 that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. Cleveland needs bullpen arms and the team is hoping that they can strike gold with Thatcher if the need arises to call him up.
